Regarding that episode:

I do still wish Lyra had taken part in it. I know she had her time in Slice of Life, but it'd still be a shame to only use her character for the one occasion, and after all, they repeatedly pointed out that Lyra was indeed a part of Twilight's old group of "friends", she was only mentioned by a few characters, showed up in one flash back as a filly, and again in an old photo at the end.

There was a time in my earlier days as a fan of the show where I was debating between her, Fluttershy and Rarity.

Sometime later, Applejack took Fluttershy's place in that "competition", while Rarity and Twilight remained.

7 Fluttershy was always second but after Rarity fell and Sunset Shimmer took best pony she's been tied for First for mane 6

I had actually seen very little of Twilight and Fluttershy at the time of my earlier days in the show....I saw a bit of Twilight in Simple Ways (my first episode) and Trade Ya.

I had mostly seen AJ and Rarity because of both of those two episodes, and some additional AJ thanks to Somepony to Watch Over me. Finally, I got to see some RD, Pinkie and some more Twilight after Wonderbolt Academy. After that I watched the Mare-a-thon in August, and over those next few days Twilight quickly rose up to become my favorite.
