Eh, I'm not so sure about that. She was a student of Celestia's so she must've been far from unknown, but I don't know if she ever did anything that put her in strongly negative views apart from Celestia herself, maybe a few other "higher-ups" in the kingdom.

16 I think that she eventually return to Equestria because there are a few questions left unanswered. Namely where is the real human Sunset Shimmer, what's going to happen if they meet, and is pony Sunset going to stay in the human world despite there being another Sunset Shimmer that actually is supposed to be living there.. there isn't enough evidence that says that she will be staying in the human world permanently and judging by the first movie it's a bad idea to have the Pony and human counterparts meet at the same place..
