I guess I'm just used to the legs as I sort of grew up seeing them, they were the first spider I can remember seeing and I saw them far more often than other spiders.

And Mosquitoes are definitely among the worst. They've ruined a few night time outside activities for me before. They're one of the reasons why I almost totally bundle up in a bunch of warm clothing (even putting a scarf around my mouth) when I go out to look at the sky with my telescope at night, lol.

I should also mention that this whole time we've been having this discussion I've had my room door closed in case the bug flies in, lol.

____

I'm pretty sure there was a miscount at some point, that's why I still made it 172.

SG jumped straight to 171 without anyone counting 170. So unless there was a miscount earlier than that, we should still be here.

I don't even know if there's a bug in my house at all. I'm just not taking any chance since I don't know for sure yet, and it might possibly be a bee....

It doesn't help that there's a pond across the road, and we have some very shady areas in our backyard.

No, you unfortunately can't.
It's funny to think that a few years back, we didn't have any rabbits hanging near our yard. Now, you can see one almost every day if you look in the morning/evening in the right places.

Yeah, Mosquitoes just love to be around water....the most we have of an outside water source here is a small rock-themed fountain we own, and another one shaped like a broken barrel. The mosquitoes seem to love to lay their eggs in them, so we use some special control things (forgot what they're called) to keep them away from it.

Unfortunately, the people who own that pond don't seem to do that. Though, they use it for their cows/horses to drink out of, so they probably can't, really.

Well that really stinks...

I once had to shoo away several mosquitoes while getting ready to leave a music festival late a night. While walking away to the car, among all of those mosquitoes, there was a lone Junebug. If anyone remembers what I said about them a few months back, you'd probably correctly guess that my mom freaked out, lol.

June bugs are honestly pretty cool. And pitiful. Poor things kill themselves :(
And they fall over on their backs so easily.

I've never done any nighttime events, so no mosquitoes bothered me there. I'm hardly ever outside at night-it's just how my family is.
But, there are plenty more mosquitoes than you'd like out in the light hours, for sure.

Bleh, I'm sorry you have to put up with that....I can't imagine having to deal with mosquitoes during day time hours, I rarely see them until the late evening.

How do June bugs kill themselves though? I've never heard anything like that before.

I think I'm gonna leave my room for a minute to get some food for myself. And to open some windows. There are nets behind the windows so no bugs can fly in, but it seems a lot of flying bugs that ever get trapped in the house like to fly towards them in hopes of escaping outside, so maybe it'll attract the fly or bee (if either of one of them are even in here at all, I'll check later to see...)

It's because June bugs are attracted to light like moths. They have a tendency to fly against the house repeatedly until they die.
Sometimes, you can see several lying on the sidewalk, dead. One time, back when we had 2 puppies, they attempted to eat some of the dead June bugs.

The worst I get here is the occasional horse fly and mosquito.
Though I did deal with Black Widows back when I was a kid in AZ.

OH BLEH. The thought of eating bugs.....that is rather sad though if the June Bugs kill themselves THAT easily. And often...

Come to think of it, that's actually how I deal with moths and flys sometimes. Like I said, they tend to be attracted to open windows and hang around the nets behind them. Whenever I see one there I just close the window on it, trapping it inside, I usually find them dead the next morning. I assume it was from them panicking and frantically flying trying to get out.

Black Widows....we've seen those around here before, but rarely. It's mostly Brown Widows that we get.

I think we saw one or two black widows before. I'm not entirely sure, though.
My windows have nettings, but two of them have holes/openings in them from age ( this is an old house, ) meaning they could fly in. But we don't open the windows often. But, that means that bugs do fly in through the holes and get stuck between the net and window. The poor things are too stupid to find their way back out, and end up starving to death, or whatever.

You oughta see if you can get them replaced or something.

I actually have a hole in the netting in my room's own window too, but it's fairly new. I had a fly stuck in my room the other day, and instead of killing it I wanted to see if I could just get it to go through that hole, but just like you said, the bugs are too stupid to know where to go and it just crawled around the netting for ages. Eventually I opened the window and swatted it instead.

But there are other things this house needs before new window panes...

Hmm, that's right, I remember a few other things you've told me about it, one of the bathrooms barely even works as a bathroom right now IIRC...

I don't think I've ever seen a fire fly in person to be honest. I really would like to someday...

Yeah, it's functionable, but not that well.
Honestly, some of the window themselves could use replacing, too.

We have a few fireflies around here. My dad said, as a kid, he lived where there was lot of them at one point. He discovered if you smash one between your hands, you get some of their chemicals that make them glow onto your hands, making your hands light up for a bit.

Yeah, I remember you mentioning the windows having some damages before as well.

As cool as that effect sounds, it sounds very cruel and I don't have the heart within me to attempt that.

Welp. Time to leave my room real quick. I probably shouldn't be feeling as scared as I am since bees only sting if you try to attack them or get in their way, but the thought of having a harmful flying bug in my house....

I did? Hm, I don't remember that, lol. But yeah, there's a few cracks/holes in a couple of them. One of them was seemingly made by a BB gun. Probably the previous owners messing around.

Still, I understand the fear of stingers. The other thing that come close to a phobia that I have? Balloons. I'm not terrified of them, but I can find it hard to relax if I'm too near one, because I'm nervous about it popping. Ugh. I hate loud noises like that. Which is why I also loath vacuum cleaners.
