Well some of the background stories of the Organization XIII members who were deceased at the time of II's events were told in that game's journal logs, and 356/2 Days had not yet come out at the same time II did IIRC. The logs weren't all that spoilery though, there were still a lot (I meant a LOT) of things that one could discover totally anew in 356/2 Days. One might be better off playing II first if you're into mystery as 356/2 Days serves a backstory for certain characters and plot elements introduced in II but not fully explained, 356/2 days answers a lot of questions. Those who prefer a more straightforward storyline might wish to play them in the opposite order.

But yeah, story-wise the series is flexible. Mainly what King said. Me myself, I've played KH1, KH2, Re:Com, 358/2, and currently working on Re:Coded.

Coded was apparently only out for Japan for mobile phones, and was re-released as Re:Coded for Japan, North America, and Europe on the Nintendo DS. It's basically KH1 retold with different plot and gameplay.

It's decent enough. Gives you another spin at the first game, though from what's been spoiled for me so far, it's not a complete KH1 clone. I'm having enough fun going through and whacking glitches everywhere.

Just unlocked the 3rd/Final mission of Assault of the Dreadnaught in II.

The Hunter X....is just....WOW. It attacks so constantly that it's countless types of lasers are practically the only thing you can see on the screen. Will have to try and defeat it again tomorrow.
