Bob-omb Sudden Death with Stock?

my cousin and I used to play sudden death where the bombs fall from the sky, with maybe 70 stock. i tried it last night and couldn't get it working.

i thought it was Timed Stock mode set to 1 minute, but when sudden death starts, it's only one life, not 70. i distinctly remember doing this, not setting bob ombs on high or anything. anyone done this? thanks

I've been so curious about the same thing. I've done sudden death (with the bombs falling and everything) with like 4 stocks. But when I tried to do it on another day, I could only play the sudden death with 1 stock.

I have a feeling that it has to do with what version of Melee you have. That's just my hunch, but I'm not sure. Everyone should test if it works with their version of Melee or not. I have version 1.2, so I'll go ahead and try it.

Hm...I don't think there is any way to reproduce the bombomb's from the sky sudden death effect you get from ending in a draw...maybe you just played super sudden death with only bombomb's on high?

I'll try w/ v.1.... 1 sec

I know for a fact that you can play sudden death with more than one stock. I used to do it a lot in the past for fun. And I'm not talking about Super Sudden Death. Just regular sudden death so the bombs will fall from the sky.

I just tested it with V1.2 by doing a vs match with 4 stocks and 1 minute. When sudden death started, I only had 1 stock :( So apparently it doesn't work with 1.2

I'm willing to bet that it works with 1.0 :) This is just my guess though lol.

No go.

My version is not version 2, it's a hacked melee, so I'm not 100% sure on which version it actually is. But I can flame cancel w/ bowser, and super jump with link.

I set it 4 stock match, 1 minute, and let the time run out. Sudden death, 1 stock each.

I spent at least 2-3 weeks of my melee career trying to do this. It doesn't work. You can only do it with one stock.

Or we could be doing it wrong. I'm pretty sure that I've done that before...with 3-4 stocks...I think...don't remember. Either way, I know I've had bombs falling from the sky with version 1.2. Idk anything about the stocks being higher than 1. Pretty sure it has happened before...

Maybe if you do a timed 70 stock match and let the time run out. I don't have Melee atm so I can't test this.

EDIT: I should learn to read threads.

You either have 1.1 or 1.0 if that's the case.

Someone should test this on V1.0

How do you know what version you have? I forgot how to tell a while ago. If it has to do with the code on the front, mine is DOL-006(USA).

It works on mine. :D

I just did a stock match with 99 lives, 1 minute time limit. Made sure it was tied 97 to 97 cause I was bored and killed the CPU lol. Then after like 30 seconds into the sudden death bombs started falling, and we both still had 97 lives.

If you look on the back of your disc, you should find something that says "DOL-GALE-0-0" Then one more number

If it's DOL-GALE-0-00, then you have 1.0.

If it's 0-01, then you have 1.1.

I think you get the picture lol.

what are some other differences between the versions?
1.0 and 1.1: Bowser can Flame Cancel, Link can super jump. More importantly, hits that deal less than 1% can be Smash DIed.

1.2: The opposite of all those things.

I could be wrong about the SDI thing, it might be the other way around. It only makes a big difference to characters like Zelda or Pichu that depend on multihit attacks a lot.

Version 1's hits that deal less than 1% cannot be smash DI'd

Also in 1.0, the HomeRun Contest camera won't go past like 5000 feet or somewhere around there, and the sandbag will fall through the floor.

There's a few other things too that they fixed from 1.0 to 1.1, but I'm not exactly sure what they are. It'd be cool if someone found a list for all the differences.

Most importantly, I now want 1.0 just for having multiple stocks in sudden death lol.

I remember my friend having DOL-GALE-0-?? JP or something. Doesn't JP mean Japan? His version is english, lol.

Anyways, in 1.0 couldn't you spawn as many items as you want in training and end up freezing the game?

My disc has JP on it as well. I'm guessing because they manufactured the US and Japanese games at the same place or w/e. Also why there is the language option.

Oh, and yeah, I had 1.0. Get at me. lol

if you change the language and go to the trophy viewer, the Nintendo consoles in the background change to their japanese equivalents.

To do it put the stocks to 70+ lives don't die that whole time waiting let the time run out and you have all your stocks
