To play against your friends in Smash Bros. Brawl, you must first exchange friend codes. The game does not use your Wii System number, as some had expected.

Acutally, that doesn't deconfirm this. That just says that you can't just use the Wii friend code to go online (which we all knew). It does not say taht entering the Wii code first will automatically add your bud's FCs.

And, the vid posted earlier confirms that yes, this method does work.
