Does anyone else feel like the 3ds version is getting the better stages then the Wii u version. For example the Wii u get PAC land which to be honest is a ugly stage and does hurt your eyes looking at it while 3ds gets PAC maze that looks like a awesome stage that has unique features. Does anyone else think this as well?

I agree. Pac-Land on Wii U looks so ugly, but Pac-Maze is SOO MUCH BETTER. It gives the classic arcade feel.
I also enjoy figthing on a train more then fighting around a island in the sky. I think Sakurai likes the 3DS version more, I mean he said numerous times that he can do lots of things in the 3DS version that he cant do in the Wii U version, Like Golden Plains, Smash Run, and now this stage. I prefer everthing in the 3DS version so far, including stages.

For me, not too much.

The only stages I absolutely adore on the 3DS version are Arena Ferox and Gerudo Valley (which is tempting me to go out and pre-order it today). Prism Tower's alright though I like Kalos Pokemon League better.

It's pretty much a hit or miss with these stages. I don't know why they thought to bring back Jungle Japes and PacLand looks pretty gross.

I think the reasoning behind this is that SSB3D is being marketed to casual players who enjoy fooling around with the more unorthodox stages more, while SSBU is being marketed towards competitive players who largely want to just focus on the battle.

I do hate the Pac Land stage, though. Yech.

To be honest, I don't care too much for the gimmicks the 3ds version has with its stages since I'd rather be able to concentrate on my fight at all times

I love pac-land.
And i dont think so, we have that mario galaxy stage and pilot wings, is just another kind of fun, consider that there is a lot of people who thinks wario ware and mario bros are awfull stages to play.

2 stages don't mean anything. Gerudo Valley>Skyloft Pac-Maze>Pac Land Golden Plains>New Super Mario Bros U.

That's just my opinion though.

I actually really agree with you on this! Although I don't think all the Wii U stages are bad, I feel that they have way to much going on in them; ex: Wily's Castle (Great stage, but that yellow devil is too much!) Although I think it is a cool concept that Wii U stages get there of FD form! I do really like some stages on Wii U, but overall I feel 3DS has some great ones and, like you said, especially got the better Pac-man Land!

Why would they be better? comparing gerudo with skyloft is like comparing eldin with delfino plaza.
Those 2 stages changes completelly the way you play though, unlike pac-maze and golden plains that use pretty much the same gimmick in different ways :p

I'm comparing them because they're from the same franchise.

Sigh...
Did you see what Sakurai said about it?
"This is one of the unique game features that can only be done in the 3DS version"
A 3DS is NOT a Wii U. This stage wouldn't be as awesome if it didn't have this gimmick.

I know what sakurai said even without the featured it would still be a cool stage for the wii u.

Yeah i know what you are doing, you also said is your opinion :p
Im just saying is not a fare comparison because they are completelly different, is basically look at the textures and ignore the rest.

No the Wii U stages are better for the most part because less annoying gimmicks to deal with. Pac-Land should have been a Pac-Man World stage though.

I'm honestly liking the Wii U stages more because the gimmicks are less intrusive.
I prefer the 3DS stages since theyre more gimmicky and look awesome (Rainbow Road)
Thus proving my point that the stage choices of the two versions are intended for the fandom's two different markets.

I kind of prefer the 3DS stages too. I'll admit I'm a little biased as I love train levels, but a lot of it is also many of the WiiU stages kind of bother me, most of all Palutena's Temple looks a little tedious to play in, being even larger than New Pork City.

Actually Im somewhere between casual and competitive, but im glad the gimmick stages are on the 3DS as much as Im glad the Wii U has less gimmicks

The problem with that idea is that most Wii U stages will be banned anyway. Coliseum, Gateway Galaxy, Wily Castle, they're all going to be banned.
That's hardly "most". We don't even know half.

Wily's Castle is definitely bannable if there isn't a way to turn off the boss, but depending on how the game shapes up, walk-offs could become counterpick candidates. We can't rule out anything yet. (Except scrolling stages. And Boxing Ring)

Walkoffs? Not banned?

No.
Why not? Walk off camping actually puts the person camping the edge at a disadvantage. Seriously, the whole idea of them causing crazy issues are NOT what people think them to be. Characters with set throw knockback and some other things can work wonders on them, but it's not impossible for one to be legal if it was set up right.

The reason we don't have legal walkoffs is because it can quickly make a few decisions mean alot more then usual, like sudden death, and they remove certain aspects of play. A few moves at the edge can quickly turn things around for either player. It's basically a high risk, high reward version of rock-paper-scissors. I don't want to put up with it, and I'm not alone in this line of thinking.

There are some 3DS stages that I really like, but overall I like the Wii U stages better. (Except Wily's Castle with the Yellow Devil from hell...)

Pac-Maze is literally the only stage on the 3DS version that I prefer to its Wii U counterpart. Every other stage (barring the universal Boxing Ring) doesn't interest me.

I like quirky stages as much as the next guy, too. But none of the gimmicks on the 3DS stages appeal to me at all. They define the stages, moreso than simply adding to them. The only stages without significant gimmicks (Prism Tower, Arena Ferox, etc.) have layouts that I find unappealing, and so far, I prefer their Wii U counterparts, Kalos League and Coliseum.

They remove some aspects from play, and add others as well. What are these decisions that mean more then usual you are mentioning? If you meant walk off camping I can easily explain why doing that isn't actually really beneficial to the person camping. A few moves off stage can change things around quickly for players too.

It's not impossible to see one legal, Onett was legal in Brawl and Melee for a while actually only being banned more for the fact that it had walls that caused some camping issues. It's not impossible to see such a stage legal, it'd just have to not have other things that could be abused.

Walkoff camping isn't necessarily in the camper's favor, but it can force the other player to play a risky move. It's still overcentralizing. What little walkoffs give is counteracted by all that it removes. Onett is a special case, since it has cars coming every ten seconds that make the camper have to perform a punishable action, usually resulting in death because of it. I'll accept a walkoff stage where camping on the edge is outright a stupid move, but nothing less.

Retro Maze tops Pac-Land on the Wii U.

Yes, I'm calling the 3DS version Retro Maze since that's what it is. A retro maze.

i feel like saukuri knows that smash is competative and so he made the 3ds more gimicky than wii u because he knows that smash wiiu will be more played than 3ds so he made the 3ds have more stages that are for causual players then he made wii u stages more compettive that are less likely to be banned
