There are always new players jumping into Smash Ultimate, and if you’re recently one of them, you might have gotten a big shock when you first opened the character select screen. For this game, the developers decided to go with the very old-fashioned route of having you start with only the 8 original characters of Smash 64, and you’re meant to unlock the rest. With over 70 characters in the base-game (meaning pre–DLC, you have to pay for the rest), that can be quite overwhelming.
