Best Secondary for an Olimainer?

I'm trying to find a good secondary for Olimar, someone who counters everyone Olimar does not. Right now I'm considering MK, Marth, or R.O.B.

Any suggestions/preferences?

I'd say Marth because he does so well against MK, Kirby and Peach. Not sure about the Marth/ROB matchup though, since that's what you need to counter most.

Just don't go MK :/

It's a tough one - Olimar has such a unique play style that it's difficult to find another character that really complements him. Other than the above suggestions, I'd like to add that Donkey Kong does fairly well against the two most common characters that you'll be facing, Snake and MK. Maybe that's something an Olimainer could consider, aside from the fact that he's heavy and therefore potentially hard to move to.

DK sucks against ROB though... and ROB is Olimar's hardest matchup. So Marth would, despite less of an advantage against Snake and MK, probably be better. Snake can be beaten with Olimar anyway, and nothing really has a big advantage on MK so DK and Marth would probably work equally well.

GnW ***** peach hardcore style, goes even with MK and marth, has a slight advantage to ROB. DK covers anyone else and snake

Tbh I don't care about matchups. The only characters that honestly give me much trouble at all are the twins of terror, peach and g&w. Every other character (yes mk) imo are managable.

But I 2nd kirby cuz hes pink pwnage:love: and for rainbow cruise :ohwell:

As a G&W main, I have to throw his name out there.
He has crazy priority, crazy range (excluding his grab basically), disjointed hit boxes on a LOT of his moves, and is such a powerful killer.
Meta Knight might be the best choice though, he basically goes even or advantage with everyone but Snake, and Olimar can handle Snake perfectly fine.
My search for a main led me to G&W because he was FUN. Though I was as good with MK, I wasn't enjoying myself. I imagine one of the reasons you play Olimar is because you enjoy him as a character. Just make sure you get that same feeling out of who ever you secondary. Smash should never become a chore, even if you are a top level professional.

I say you should go with snake or marth. Marth becuz he can counter his attacks and snake becuz he has over power smashes and titls

I made a thread about this a while back, and got some pretty good responses, so I'll shed a little light. MK is nearly impossible to beat as Olimar, but DK can make easy work of him, so its probably worthwhile to practice with DK, even if its only against MK. Marth's arials are fairly similar to Olimar's, so a good Olimar should be able to pick up marth with relative ease. The lack of a projectile and actual recovery make the play styles a little different, but Marth has good arials, and disjointed hitboxes. No insane grab reach though.

True, but MK still is no walk in the park. Sooner or later MK mainers are going to find a way around our range. If an MK does manage to airdodge one of our arials or something, that MK is going to have a fun time taking advantage of the lag.
Mk is never a walk in the park, nor is he impossible to beat.

Kyas, I remember you used R.O.B. for a while. You could use him for R.O.B. dittos as well as fighting Snake and then have G&W as another secondary for the other matchups that people have mentioned here. It's your call though.
