I know I'm gonna sound like a pirate here but hear me out.

Do you think anyone managed to save the demo to their own Wii U before the end of Smash-Fest? I don't know how secure Nintendo is digitally about copying their software but this seems very possible to me.

I'm not asking for the demo, I'm asking would people able to successfully rip it (and play it,) and have they already?

I'm not entirely sure that's possible.

There is no known case of anyone doing that. It would be very difficult to say the least since it would require access to the demo station hardware, and Nintendo is pretty serious about that security.

I can tell you I don't know anyone who has saved a version of the wii u demo on their own wii u.

BUT, I did learn this: The demo the Nintendo Reps used at the Best Buy event wasn't on a disc or even downloaded from anything. The demo was being STREAMED from E3 itself. I still don't understand how that works. So I don't think anyone was able to obtain the demo or even knew how to obtain it since it was being streamed.

I was ready to swing down from the ceiling Mission Impossible-style and snatch the Wii U with the demo haha.

I kinda wondered if it was a disc or downloaded or what, and what would happen to the demo copies/Wii Us with the data after the event was over. The streaming is an interesting idea though..

I was told by one of the employees (manager I think) at Best Buy that it was loaded onto the SD card, if that matters. Dunno if he was right about that though.

This was after the game had crashed for us.

EDIT: How about the 3DS version? Does it work the same way? Honestly I don't think that console has the capacity to constantly stream the game especially wirelessly.

Those 3DS copies could have easily been snagged. I'm surprised that hasn't surfaced.

One time I helped a GameStop employee install the Mario Kart 8 demo. It came on a disc with various updates. Everything is handled through a sort of fancy debug menu.

Stealing the demo would be next to impossible. Even if you got the disc, your home Wii U would not be able to play it.

Take it from me - I've actually worked as a brand ambassador/manager marketing for a few Nintendo things (primarily Fire Emblem and Holiday Market related) and the Big N always has their reps floating by on the ready - they take things incredibly seriously, and you often don't even have the keys to the demo units - I only had the keys to the FE: Shadow Dragon capture units because well, the game was out, and DS hardware was pretty old at that point.

No one has gotten access to any of the Smash demos or those units (which are pre-loaded Wii-U's).

I bet my eternal soul promised to the grand Lucifer that no one has done this without Nintendo's permission.

my nintendo rep told me that the demos were tied to the specific wii u demo units they were playing on, so even if someone did put it on their wii u it wouldn't work

The 3ds was a downloaded demo version.

The WiiU console was locked up. If you can bypass the enormously large crowd and the Nintendo/Best Buy employees to pick the lock or swipe keys and unlock... you gotta deal with a kiosk setup for a console.Your best bet is to just steal the WiiU console, throw a smoke bomb, and run out as fast as you possibly can.

The 3DS version had a locking mechanism on it and it was strapped to one of the employee's arms. I could have amputated her arm and ran off with it, but it may cause a little scene. :(

Where i was, a man had two 3ds's with him, and they had thick rubber links connected to the back of the 3ds, and then to his belt.

Not at the two Best Buys I went to. The game card was locked inside the 3DS and the actual 3DS XL was strapped to the Nintendo rep's arm. lol...

The one where I was, was an actual game card, not a downloaded demo. I saw her when she put it into the XL and put the lock on top of it. When she handed me the 3DS, I had to go to where you normally launch a game to open it up.

So when this happened, what did you see on the top screen before opening the game?
I tapped to open the game up. It opened the game up. The game launched, I went to the main menu where I selected Smash Rush. lol.

And by me saying "I went where I normally open games up" - I mean I went to the game card slot (All the way left by default) and launched it there. It was a physical game card in the two XLs.

I know what you mean, I guess I worded it wrong. What I meant to say was, you know how before you start up a 3DS game, there is a "3D Model" of the game's title that's unique to it's game? Like in Triple Deluxe for instance, you would see Kirby on a warp star along with King Dedede before actually tapping the game's icon to open the game. So what I was asking was, what did SSB 3DS's "3D Model" look like? Do you see what I'm saying? Lol.

Oh, I didn't really pay attention to see it, sorry. I think it was just a square that had the Smash 3DS logo in it, but not 100% sure. On a different note: I did play the Smash Run with the 3D turned on and it was awesome, but the Nintendo rep saw that it was on and was like "Oh no turn 3D off it drains battery" haha.
