I was playing some matches last night and I realized I have a mess of trouble playing Charizard or Bowser. Both of the screw up my approach play and if I whif an attack close to them I eat the 15-20% from the fire breath. Any tips for these guys when I'm playing as Ganondorf. I usually just end up counterpicking Wolf.

(Yes this thread is in the DK section too. Both of my mains have problems with these two)

DI and Smash DI away to take less damage. DI'ing towards in hopes of punishing won't work with Ganon. also, fire breath is particularly easy to punish if they miss you with it.

Bowser, much like yourself, is a character that relies on his fastest attacks. Lagless fair, infinite jump, Koopa Klaw (screw the name, I have an eyepatch), up+b out of shield, jabs and up/forward tilt. Bowser's Fire Breath counts as a projectile, and is one of the inpenetrable projectiles: You can't barge through it so don't try. If you get caught in it, Tap DI out of it the opposite direction (remember, they can aim it!).

Murder Choke is the bane of Bowser: I believe you can hit him with anything when he's still laying down and you can do anything when he rolls: try fsmash for a good kill move or potential edgeguarding.

This is all the advice I can give against Bowser for now. Just watch out: he's faster and more powerful than you are. Don't underestimate his speed.

Personally, I prefer aerial-side B right over the flames right after I DI away from the flames if I get caught in it. Too bad I don't record matches nowadays... I have some good matches against a pokemon trainer main.

Flying Dutchman.... nice eye-patch you have there.

The only other person i get to play who is any good at all is a pokemon trainer main so i have lots and lots of experience with charizard, like everyone else said DI the opposite direction as fast as you can and try to punish them before they can stop.

Try switching up your approach, if you can fake them out and make them pull out the fire you can punish them very easily if you can get behind them quick enough.

other then that i try to stay close and just keep hitting them, bowser and charizard get combo'd very Very easily.

Hmmm, I knew that the big characters can't try and force their way into the flame breath but it sounds like I just need to try more fakeouts. It is nice to know I can use anything against Bowser after I Murder Choke him though. Since it's the 4 of July I'm back at home visiting the family so I can't practice against anyone, but does anyone know if a full hopped d-air can reach them or can they usually angle it up in time?

I'll also give the aerial side-b a shot Bizz. Thanks for the tips guys.

Ok, take what I'm about to say a bit lightly since I did these tests alone(without Bowser angling his flame), but if you SDI Up and towards Bowser with the Control Stick and straight Up with the C-Stick, you can jump out of his flames and punish.

You seriously have to go nuts on the sticks to get it to work, but it's fairly consistent(for an un-angled flame), and if it doesn't work semi-immediately, you can use both sticks to SDI out of the flames while taking just 5%(on top of whatever you've already taken).

I'm also A-Sticking, so SDI-ing with the C-Stick makes me jump immediately from the flames(rather than having to hit Y).

Fire breath is easy to escape if Bowser doesn't angle it, in my experience.
