Everything was overpowered in the 64 verison. Remember grabs? Almost no lag if you miss and kill better than smashes?

Those items were overpowered. With the hammer it was possible to kill someone twice in a row with it. It was too strong and the hitbox was so big it made you invicible most of the time.

The beam sword was powered down with everything else.

Being Marth, and picking it up, actually makes you WEAKER.
NO item should be a disadvantage.

Unless it has some redeeming features.
**Defends Marth**

I don't mean to be rude or big headed here...

BeamSword may make Marth weaker, but I can throw that thing at you like nothing else repeatedly until you're off the stage.

Just remember, the BeamSword mean's 1 indirect attack for a DIRECT fighter, it does give you the upper hand against players like Pikachu and Samus as they have a lot of Indirect attacks...

I agree about the repeated chucking thing, that was WAY overpowered, but I do think
it should be made more useful for hitting with but less useful for throwing,
because that kind of defeats the point of having a laser sword...

No, it wasn't overpowered cause you had to hit them for it to work, that's pretty fair and fun.

P.s. sup KAZ?

There really shouldn't be items in this game though. Items are ftl.
Nah, I wouldn't say so. Not only do items add a completely different layer of gameplay and fun to the Smash Brothers games, but they also pretty much define the series as what it is.

Nintendo Characters.
Unique Stages.
A variety of crazy items.

These are what differentiate the Smash series from other fighters. Each is as important as the next.

Now I wouldn't argue that items are as important as gameplay, because they aren't.
You can have one without the other, but not the other without the one.

But I WILL argue that items ARE in fact an integral part of the gameplay,
OR ELSE THEY WOULDN'T BE THERE.
