Banned Controller Mods

I know what Melee mods were banned, but what is banned in Brawl? Here's what I plan on doing to mine other than cosmetic:

1. Replacing rumble with LED (cosmetic, but removes rumble. This is mainly for convenience not having to go through menus).

2. Removing springs from L and R.

3. I may or may not do this, but replace C-Stick with a control stick.

These are all the questionable things I may do. I saw plenty of cosmetic mods at CH3 and other tournies. Let me explain each one and why it should/shouldn't be banned:

1. Doesn't give advantage, I'm asking about this one because I am paranoid.

2. This gives players an advantage in Brawl. I'd love to use this mod if it happened to be legal though. I think it should be banned because you need a triwing screwdriver to do it. However I think it shouldn't because it's easy to do, almost impossible to enforce, and it fixes something inherently wrong with Brawl with GCN controller.

3. I don't think this should be banned because it doesn't give an advantage, and 3rd party controllers with slightly modified layouts are legal.

Also, I kind of want a straight-forward answer from a legit source. I know there is no official ruleset right now, but I don't want to spend all this time and money making my controller optimal to find out one of the above is banned...

Jknockoutz - Removing the springs allows you to use R or L to jump as you can press the button much more quickly without a spring pushing back. You can then perform a jump without removing your thumb from the A button, allowing even quicker arials.

the removing the springs sounds like it would be banned, although a cool idea

Not allowing the removal of springs from the controller would be stupid to ban here's why:

There is No 'real' advantage: If not having a spring in the shoulder button is an "unfair advantage" you need to then subsequently ban all 3rd party controllers that don't have the same springs as the official controllers, and then ban all software controller changes that would let you perform the same action with a button that does not use a spring inherently (ie moving shield to x or y)

plus who is gonna go around checking everyone's controllers?

So long story short, I find it a hard ban to justify and to enforce, so I wouldn't worry about it
all that much.

Some TOs have outright banned all modded controllers,(But then again, some TOs are ****ing morons) but generally the removal of a spring for Brawl is not considered a big deal by anyone not ********. Just check with a TO before hand to make sure any mods you have are okay with them.

Spring removal in Melee was generally frowned apon as it apparently made it easier to powershield (from what I heard), but the fact that brawl doesn't have various shield strength anymore, I'm not sure if it does anything.

In the Back Room we're heavily aimed towards allowing the removal of springs right now, though I think no official vote has been done on it. Reason being that the shield button in other configurations is a simple button press, and there's no benefit to mid-level shielding anymore.

Thanks much! Any word C-Stick replacement? I just want to do it for asthetic purposes (two control sticks that look the same, one color).
