Just thought a few things I'd share, what I'm changing about my game.

1. I use the U-Tilt in place of Shield Grabs/spot dodging. This means that my U-Tilt becomes incredibly weak when it comes time to get an actual kill.
2. Rolling. I did a count of the rolls I do in a match from previous tournament footage, and my average was 23 rolls a match. I then compared to the players that were winning in my area[Lee, Cyphus, etc] and they we rolling an average of five times a match.
3. I don't choke, before throwing. Grabbing to 'Choke' to throw, is a great way to refresh attack power, but I always go straight into the down throw/toss.
4. I Bair entirely too much when returning to the platform, rather than being considered about getting to the stage, I attempt to do damage/knockback.
5. I truly attempt to act as if Snake has an impressive air game. >> Furthermore, I bair too low to the ground often, so it doesn't auto-cancel, setting up easy grabs.
6. I tend to approach the edge guard too closely, rather than just preparing the stage with mines/grenades.
7. Every once in awhile, when attempting to return to the stage I will accidently F->B instead of doing a neutral B for a grenade. This occurs maybe one time out of a hundred matches, but still not something I ever want to do again. Rather embarrassing.
8. I don't Crouch enough. Silly I know, but crouching vs an aerial opponent reduces your hit box dramatically. Instead, I just U Tilt. =p
9. Not enough F-tilts. 'Nuff Said.
10. The occasional 'slip' into doing an F-Smash or D-Smash mid match, right next to an opponent.
11. I don't begin to do well until I'm at high percents. I give easy, easy, easy percents to other players, and then I enter a mode of dodging/countering where I simply don't get hit.

1. Don't rely on U-tilt too much, I hardly use it unless a situation calls for it
2. I have the same problem too, came from melee :( I say just practice doing sidesteps and shield grabs, even just shielding an attack and attack out of it.
3. I don't choke either, then again, I hardly grab people as I roll away too often :(
4. Just recover as high as you can on the stage and get used to not using B-air
5. Space it so you can knock them back, this way, they can't counter it
6. It really depends on the character, but I say just drop a grenade and N-air them when they roll/jump back on stage.
7. Practice
8. I don't crouch either, I use mortar
9. Using too much F-tilts makes the game predictable, try to switch up your moveset to further enhance your mindgame (go ahead and correct me, I might be wrong here)
10. Can't help ya there
11. Focus on shielding, shield grabbing, use projectiles to prevent certain moves, and DI can help you get out of combos, that's all I got.

Okay, I'm probably not the best Snake player here, but here's my two cents, feel free to correct me or add on to it, I might even learn something from this.

Really, this thread was made more of a self rant than anything, but in doing so I managed to fix many, many of the problems I had. In the tournament from Friday, I ended up placing fifth out of forty. Had some close matches against the guy that won it [Sudai.] I can't wait to have my videos from it, so I can figure out what I'm doing now. =p

Haha, sometimes when I'm trying to recover I'll do Nikita instead of Cypher and well you know what happens next. Definitely embarrassing.

I also tend to SD myself when I'm near the edge. Example: I'm near the edge and shield an attack that slides me off the stage. Instead of grabbing the edge I'll accidentally FAir or NAir and kill myself. Sometimes I can recover from a FAir and get back on stage but majority of the time I die. I've actually cut down on that A LOT by just not pressing anything if I get hit to where I slide off. That's something I can definitely say I've improved on.

I'm the same way too when I grab at low %. I'm just afraid they'll break the grab so I just immediately toss them. Of course, if they're higher % I'll choke a few times then toss.

Good job on placing 5th in your tourney man! Good luck in future tourneys.

Well, what happens with the Nikita is that I'll attempt to throw a grenade first, but slip on removing the DI on my joystick [towards stage] which results in it popping out. Happens maybe once every hundred matches, but it was one of the reasons that I lost a match I should have won vs Cyphus on my counter pick stage. Not saying I'd have won the set, but, I would have won that match since it was on Brinstar, and I was up vs his DK, and died at 30%~.

Having my flaws written down prior to the tournament helped me visualize becoming better. I managed to fix many of them, and I really can't wait for the videos of my matches to get posted so I can find out my new problems. >>
