Did you plan on updating this thread regularly with more stuff?

Otherwise ask for crits here > http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=235725 I just don't want people making a whole new thread for a single image...

I don't know how competitive Smash would work as a sports comic, but it's definitely something new, and I personally want to see what could be done with it. If you have a story planned out I say go for it.

Some of the windows are too small for me to read the words though. I think using a ruler to make sure the edges of the windows are straight would look better overall.

Thanks for your comment. The image is scaled to 900 pixels so it's often recommended to click on the Download button which shows the pic in full view (in a new window). I did have a thread here already but I haven't posted so long that I didn't think bumping it would be appropriate.

Also, I was wanting to get comments on this idea for more support and maybe ideas on progressions.

On the main story, I wanted to be like quite a bit of sports comics where the main character starts out as a noob but is actually a prodigy when his friend (also new to the scene) introduces him.

Things I was wondering about are things like what should the two friends main (I was thinking Mario but he might be too simple of a character in comparison to higher ups), if brawl and 64 would be good filler chapters, and overall if people were interested.

Glad I got your support though, thanks for the link to the critique thread.

Looks like melee to me.
I approve.

Edit: Right, constructive stuff.
Rulers are sweet and stuff, like Neon said, but I'd be concerned more about stuff like dynamic angles and stuff. Like the larger pic where fox is putting the hurt on kirby would be sweet from a ground perspective looking upwards with Kirby flying into the distance, complete with those action line thingys that animes tend to use.

Just my two cents.

As far as mains it depends on how you want the story to unfold.

If it's a story about a "noob" on his way up, maybe he realizes the only way to get to the top is to play a good character, in which case he mains someone like Fox or Puff.

Or maybe people think he's a noob because he plays a terrible character, but his rise to stardom includes using a bad character to overcome the toughest matches. Could go either way. The main could relate to how he transitions from novice to expert. Maybe he mains a bad character but his friend starts off with a high tier, and due to their different philosophies on winning they go their separate ways or something.

Not even sure how to answer the question about filler chapters. If you already admit it's filler, why include it at all? Stick to the interesting relevant stuff.

Sports mangas usually have filler and I'm new to this thing.

I imagine they have filler mostly due to time constraints or contract deadlines, etc. I don't think anyone wants to a) increase the amount of work they do, or b) decrease the overall quality of said work because of it.
