Just putting this out here for ideas. If I can post this somewhere else please do not hesitate to close and redirect me.

I found that bthrow can lead to stuff like fsmash and Back Slash at very early percents (like 0%). It seems pretty situational though (it definitely is techable haven't tested DI), but I think you can react to them fast enough. It even works at higher percents with Buster.

I haven't tested it enough for exact percents or anything else in general.

If this has been found already (or found to be unusable), I guess I should start frequenting this place lol

I made a note about this in Shulk's Metagame thread because Shulk's Bthrow sends them flying with their back facing toward our back, which is why I believed Back Slash was a prime candidate follow-up move for the right reasons. The launching at mid or high % is still a good thing because they can't face back around unless they use their SideB or if their Bair turns their direction to face back around such as :4lucina: & :4marth:. Buster to add in the mix of follow-ups makes it legit too good stuff.

Yeah, makes me happy to know Shulk's have been finding things. Moves the metagame along nicely :D

I'll check out the metagame thread. That looks like the place for this kind of discussion <3

Yeah but that's more strict rather than a Bthrow > Bair tipped with the Beam portion. Bair is so safe from it's tip anyhow

So I toyed around with BThrow and it seems that you can do BThrow > shortjump > Backslash on pretty much every character at 0%. Shortjump is necessary because you'll miss a lot of characters without it and if you do it you'll hit them with the Monado's sweetspot. Not sure how practical it is but it's something.

EDIT: You aren't necessarily certain to hit with Back Slash after BThrow as I had previously said, as the opponent actually has time to move (Something I somehow failed to realize completely). However Back Slash will hit them in a lot of cases, assuming they:
  • Jump towards you without airdodging
  • Get up immedately
  • Wait on the ground
As such, even though it's not guaranteed damage BThrow into Back Slash seems like a decent option in many scenarios, as it's basically 25-27% damage if it works.

The difference seems to be minimal, as you travel from a higher vertical point when you shorthop as opposed to doing it on the ground. The big difference comes from how early you Back Slash in the shorthop. It makes me think you could fake people out by varying your timing on the shorthop-backslash since it will change your reach.
