Fact: You guys in the Football topics have my blessing for making topics that are on topic and productive. Way to go guys.
It's late, but I'm bringing em back ^_^

Post about your picks for this week. After the week is over, you can post feedback on the games played.

My Picks:

NE > ***
NE? Because they're amazing and Bill Belicheck their coach is out to run the table...and they're playing to set history.
+ the giants are banged up and might rest some of their starters
SEA vs ATL
ATL straightup suck sand seattle has a strong defense.
Also seattle is playing to get home field in the 1st round of playoffs.
DET = GB
This game doesnt really matter. GB is gonna get the second seed no matter what and DET isn't making the playoffs
umm it can really go any way since depends on who plays and who doesn't.
SF vs CLE
CLE will be playing to get into the playoffs and SF has a terrible offense.
...SF is just terrible.
JAC > HOU
JAC because of their two headed monster (fred taylor and maurince jones-drew) at runningback. Houston cant stop their run.
CAR < TB
Another one of those games that doesnt matter cause its week 17
TB is in, CAR isn't doing ****
BUF < PHI
Both will play for pride. PHI played very well last week against NO.
NO < CHI
NO is better....and theyre playing for a playoff spot i think...but I'm going with CHI cause its at home and the weather conditions are tough this time of year. The chicago d plays well in the snow.
CIN <MIA
*They both suck, I'm just going with who's at home.*
DAL < WAS
Dallas is 13-2 and they already guaranteed the 1 seeed in the nfc, so they'll be resting romo and to is out with the high ankle sprain.
WAS is playing really inspired (since sean taylor died :( )
KC < NYJ
*They both suck, I'm just going with who's at home.*
STL < ARI
Kurt Warner is gonna play well against his former team (who has a terrible pass defense).
SD > OAK
Because ladainian is raw and oak is starting rookie qb jamarcus russel probably (who isnt good yet)
MIN > DEN
Vikings fan all the way!!!
PIT > BAL
PIT doesnt have willy parker, but they need to win. Baltimores d isnt what it used to be.
TEN vs IND
Tennesses got this...
Vince Young is very clutch in these must win situations
IND doesn't have anything to play for and they have to rest injured players (like joseph addai).

Its like a chess match. If you really know wats going on. How do u beat your opponents castle? With a queen and a bishop to the corner where the king is trapped. How do u counter a 5 reciever set? With a 3-man front dime package maybe in a prevnet. Eh...jus watch it and get into it i guess.

Yaya's Picks:

NE @ *** - NE Wins. How can you go against NE when they are 15-0?

SEA @ ATL - SEA wins. Let's face it. ATL sucks this year, and with Vick gone for good, they'll be bad for a while unless they get a QB, and fast.

DET @ GB - GB wins. Farve will bounce back from a poor game.

SF @ CLE - CLE wins. CLE needs this game, they will play their hearts out.

JAC @ HOU - HOU wins. HOU finally has an okay season. They will try and finish it on a high note.

CAR @ TB - TB wins. As FS said, TB's defense is just too good.

BUF @ PHI - PHI wins. PHI will try and finish this roller coaster ride 8-8.

NO @ CHI - NO wins. The Saints are fighting for a playoff spot, they will go all out.

CIN @ MIA - CIN wins. How is it possible to think the Dolphins will win?

DAL @ WAS - WAS wins. Dallas most likely won't have their starters out there.

KC @ NYJ - NYJ wins. Does anyone really care about this match up?

STL @ AZ - AZ wins. the Rams are just a horrible team.

SD @ OAK - SD Wins. OAK would be better off having a PeeWee team as their O Line, JaMarcus, watch yourself.

MIN @ DEN - MIN Wins. MIN wants a playoff spot, Adrian Peterson wants it too.

PIT @ BAL - PIT wins. BAL fell apart this season. PIT will walk over them.

TEN @ IND - TEN wins. IND will rest their players.

it never hit me so i am just asking now
i guess its like watching professional smash vids but still i don't get it
Might want to look up the definition of the word "sport".

That was a **** good game, considering it meant nothing for anyone's playoffs: just for that 16-0. Welker was brilliant, and the o-line held up well while missing two starters. Gotta hand it to the Giants though, they played ridiculously well considering.

I'm a big fan of the G-Men, but biased or not if the Giants play the way they played tonight throughout the playoffs... We could be seeing a rematch of this Saturday nighter.

Sigh, though it's a long-shot for the Giants, and I have the Jags picked throughout their entire playoff run.

Anyway I figured I'd chime in with my picks.

NE < ***

I had the Pats picked to win up until I saw how fired up the Giants were pre-game. Then I flip-flopped.

SEA > ATL

Even without their recycling stadium the Falcons should pose little threat. Even to a team resting their starters.

DET > GB

Desperate not to end the season on a low note, the Lions come out wanting to punish a divisional rival. Unfortunately the Packers could care less.

SF < CLE

The 9ers have been playing VERY well as of late. However Anderson will rebound and lead a large scoring game against SF and clinch a playoff berth.

JAC > HOU

The Jags will be resting Jones-Drew... So yeah, HOU doesn't stand much of chance seeing as Fred Taylor is probably the bigger threat.

CAR > TB

TB's defense is what got them this far. And they will probably be rested for the most part. Unless their D can put enough points on the board to beat CAR before the second half, CAR will win. Not one defensive Buc was sent to the ProBowl, and this is mostly due their teamwork and understanding of one another. They won't risk injury.

BUF < PHI

The Eagles will win a rather tight game over the Bills and end out the season at .500 securing the NFC East has no teams under .500.

NO @ CHI

NO Flops in this game. 'nough said.

CIN > MIA

Well, this might sound odd, but the scoring will be high and MIA will lose by three, just as they've done all season long. The best worst team in NFL history.

DAL < WAS

DAL will rest their starters for the most part. With the second rounders in to play, what the Cowboys' will lack in talent will be replaced by recklessness. Tempers will flare as the biggest rivalry in sports will ensue. However WAS would probably win this game even with DAL playing their starters. This WAS team has quickly and quietly become a top three team in the NFC.

KC < NYJ

Edwards' career win record has taken a beating lately. A blow out in the Meadowlands wouldn't be so bad if it were against the good NY team.

STL > AZ

Warner through the air, Jackson on the ground. In the end the Running Game of the Rams will ensure they win the Time of Position battle and subsequently the game as well. If the Card's pull ahead, don't expect the Rams to crack and resort to the air game. They will keep it on the ground unless it becomes completely out of control.

SD < OAK

My upset pick of the week. SD will play a tense game desperate to obtain the third seed. However first quarter mistakes will put them behind early. Not wanting to risk injury to his receivers on desperate passes, the Chargers will elect to play conservatively and avoid a war of attrition.

MIN < DEN

The Skin's were able to put a hamper on the Vikings' running attack. Too bad the Broncos aren't that good on D. The Vikings will win a convincing but meaningless game in Denver.

PIT > BAL

Too many injuries on the side of BAL. No passing game, Running game is out on injury, and worse of all, the Defense of the Ravens are injured up the butt. Ogden got the ProBowl vote from the Ravens fans without having to play more then two or three games this season. Look for #16 Charlie Batch to remind the other franchises that he is more then just a back-up QB when he gets the nod in a meaningless game.

TEN < IND

Harrison in and he wants to make sure Manning sees him when the Playoffs arrive. See passes deep and often to Harrison. TEN chokes under the pressure of a must win situation against the Colts. I wouldn't be surprised to see Manning stay in the game if the game comes close.

You both beat me to it, though I doubt the G-Men will be able to hold up against the Packers or Cowboys.

Too many teams resting their starters for the playoffs for me to predict these things. Week 17 is only important for those wild card teams, who will all probably be 1 and done(except the Titans and Browns, they might get a little deep in there).

I'm a cowboy's fan, but I'm also from New England. I really want to see the Cowboy's return to their old glory, but I also want the Patriots to be the best football team in history, so right now I'm rooting for the Pats. Texas can always come back next season.

Probably sleeping or in school.. but always in GA
Seahawks vs Falcons - I can't believe the falcons were ever ahead. If anyone has been following them this season, it has been rather sad. Since Mike Vick went to Jail, we've had our three quarterbacks screw up all season. And our whole team has just been sorry. The sad thing is, even though I live in atlanta and the game is on fox in other regions, it isn't even being shown. The falcons will lose...

Steelers vs Ravens - Steelers..

Texans vs Jaguars - Texans ftw (which they did, or are about to do).. Good thing the Jags are resting their starters...

And the Pats Giants game: deserves a whole thread. The Giats had them until that 4th-quarter interception...

Why are you surprised by the Seahawks? They are only a .500 team at best. Take away their sound recycling stadium and they'd be lucky to've won their division with an 8/8 record. If you don't believe me look at their records. They are usually .500 or worse on the road and nearly unbeatable at home. Their long playoff runs are also attributed to winning home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Note their loss in the SuperBowl awhile back... Completely dominate throughout the playoffs then the entire nation shocked to see Pittsburgh get the win. You can almost contribute the Seattle for the NFC's recent shortcomings as they've on several occasions knocked out the NFC's best team in a home playoff game.

Sigh, I suppose I'm done ranting for now. Next week we'll see the Redskins face the Seahawks at home. Be prepared to see Gibbs' highly disciplined team cough up more penalties and unneeded timeouts as the crowd noise becomes too much for the players to handle. (Note, the officials are to penalize the home team if the crowd does become to loud for play to continue. However I've never see it done.)

Obviously you've haven't been watching Seahawks games (that game was played by all their backups in the 2nd half by the way). How about San Fran on the road after that preseason hype, challenging Seahawks for the division title? Blew them out like 23-3 or something and outscored them 47-3 for the season. And how can they be a ".500" team at best if they are almost unbeatable at home? Doesn't make sense to me... And don't tell me to look at their records when you know nothing. How can they be a 8-8 team at best, if they won 3 games on the road? Typical Seahawks hater that I see on the Internet.

Yeah, that Super Bowl win by Pittsburgh couple years ago was helped by the refs.

Speaking of which, 2nd week of playoffs. It's poised to be one of the more exciting playoffs of the last few years, all of these games(barring the Jacksonville-New England game) look to be very close.

Seattle Seahawks < Green Bay Packers
These two teams are VERY similar in stats when it comes to both offense and defense. It'll be closer than most people expect it to be, the Seahawks always do well against the Pack, but I think Green Bay will pull this off with some good defense. The most interesting and even match-up of the week in my eyes.

Jacksonville Jaguars < New England Patriots
Jacksonville had a tough time against the Steelers last week, winning only by 3 points. You might bring up the point that the Patriots have had a tough time these last few weeks, but they have had a week of rest, which does more than people realize. While I do think Jacksonville has the best chance of beating the Patriots when it comes to the AFC, it really is wishful thinking. I simply don't think that David Garrard is the kind of quarterback who can carry his team throughout the playoffs, though their running game is brutal.

San Diego Chargers > Indianapolis Colts
The Colts always have trouble playing the Chargers, losing the last two times they have met. Neither teams are as good as they were before though. When you look at this game, you realize that the Colts can't pass all over the Chargers, Peyton Manning threw 6 interceptions against them earlier this year. Taking that and the fact that Philip Rivers is still unproven in the playoffs into account, stopping the run and running on offense is going to be the key. The Colts are #15 in the league in rush defense, with the Chargers at #16. That's so trivial, and I think we can all agree that LT has a leg-up on Joseph Addai.

If Peyton Manning can get into stride(which I don't see happening as he couldn't earlier this year, and the Chargers will only be playing better)though, the Chargers are done.

New York Giants < Dallas Cowboys
Both are excellent teams, and Eli Manning has been great the last few weeks. Tony Romo has simply been more consistent, and this game will be fun to watch if you like passing offense. Dallas' passing offense is better, but the Giants own the run game here. Still, the Cowboys have beaten the Giants 3 times in a row, twice this year, and they'll do it again.

Top Bottom
