Hey guys, I have a question.....who actually puts Meta-Knight's B+Down to good use? I'm a pretty good meta player but I rarely use it aside from last resort mind games...which usualyl don't do much. It seems it's easy to hit metaknight when he's useing it......though it has to have some potential with dodgeing maybe? I'v seen the ocmputer recover with it....insane...I don't wanna start SDing again though lol. I finally learned to control MK...I don;t wanna look like a noob again

so how and when do you guys use it?

As to using it offensively, you should only use it in when your opponent is off guard. It CAN KO at high percentages, but it is too easy to punish because of lack of super armor frames to warrant using it as a consistent finishing move. It cannot be used like, say, Marth's counter either. It is too slow and too easily punished.

I find it can be more useful when used as a retreating counter. It helps counter opponents who recklessly rush in. Kel has an excellent thread on how to use this move facing the same direction.

It is also useful for a pretty nifty edge stall. Recovery-wise however, you have many better options than this and this tends to cause more SD's than preferable.

Overall, just know that this is by far his least useful of all his specials and if your opponent ever expects that this move will appear, that is a good indication that you are using it too much or too obviously. Hopefully, as time goes by, new more important uses for this move will be discovered.

As a general rule, do not ever use the DownB (Attack) when at low %s because you can and most likely will be punished. Useful for psyching out your opponent or using it as another way to launch your opponent. It does 14% also which is pretty high and this move will almost always be fresh. Unfortunately, its knockback is rather weak. I've tried to integrate it into an upward combo, but Mach Tornado was not only better in KO potential, but also easier to hit and less punishable.

Overall, it's MK's least useful special, but don't ignore it completely. Its power is in that it is not very useful so it is very unexpected.

I mostly tend to use it for mind games, and only offensively if there is an actual opening (Which, as already said, should be found when they are at high percentages). you can sometimes catch an opponent offguard by using it while moving to them, and faking them out with a Down+A smash, which I've been finding it to be a little useful since they expect the attack from the cape so they let go of their shield while you hit them with a quick attack.

But it definitely isn't the attack you should continually use because of the fact that it is pretty punishable. use it very little to throw off your opponent or if you want to screw with their head.

I use it to get out of juggles. When the opponent jumps up to keep juggling me, I use vB and teleport diagonally towards the ground.

It's a great thing to throw in now and then when the opponent isn't expecting it, since it does a whopping 14% damage and is quite versatile. Spend some timing learning the specifics of it, including the reverse D-cape trick.

I down B in place, as in i teleport and attack in the same spot. It works more often then not. Then again i dont use this move then twice match(aside of edge games and recovery).

Just dont use it offensively. Simple enough. Lotta lag, not a great killer decent knockback, not much percent. Defensively its good for edge stalling. Thats about it really.

Yea, it seems when I try to use it though to dodge, my opponent can hit me either before the move makes me disapear....or amazingly right as I come out....

I might try the edge stallin, I love when they get near and I can jump down and shuttle loop at them. XD

I rather teleport around places, away from some sort of attack, then launch a counter attack. I dont use its attack much because Im left open and i do get punished usually.
It's more enjoyable to teleport around with Meta Cape, rather than using Zelda's Teleportation.

Also, after defeating the opponent, after the word "Game" Shows up, Down-B to teleport away, as a taunt.

you can basically only use it when you see a pattern or when your opponent is being predictable
I use it in 4 ways:

1. if you are playing someone who likes charging at you you could run towards them and when they come to attack, jump backward avoiding the attack and down+b, now if you see the chance then attack if not then teleport back or behind your oppontent.

2. if your opponent has a big reach upward (lucario) then fall straight down toward him and use it straight downward

(3 and 4 in one)
edgestall till your opponent gets provoked and comes over and then press jump from the edge and down+b emmidiately so it attacks pretty close to the edge.
I think that you are invulnerable until after your attack so he can't hit you before it's over. test it out

it will serve as a kind of mindgame cause when you don't see mk doing the attack animation from the edge you will get caught off guard
