Hey Guys,

My name is Travis and I'm the owner of AxisGaming.org

Im doing an interest check on running a Large Scale SSBB tournament sometime in August in the SF Bay Area. We will have guaranteed prize money of at least $1,000 for first place, plus other prizes like Ipods and a slew of other general game-like prizes to win as well.

BTW...Items will be off at this tournament...no debate on that!

If you are interested and would like to attend such an event please post here, I would like to get a guage on what size of venue we should look into renting!

This is just a preliminary post and things are subject to change, but we will post more info as we get it!

Thanks,
-Travis :: AxisGaming

I would love to attend something like this. It would be cool if fans of old school fighters (like myself) could have a chance to win an custom Axis stick, whether from a raffle or the tournament itself. If the prize money is at 1k or higher, lots of people are bound to show up.

You may want to post this in the respective regional board, as it will likely get more attention there.

I would read this thread to understand what tournaments can bring in attendance wise and money wise:
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=143600

Thanks for the link, thats actually a very cool thread! I understand what the scene is like, im just trying to get feedback on the forums about timing and all that good stuff...allthough this account is pretty new, ive been playing smash and going to tournaments for years, so im not new to the community. I know you werent implying that, I just wanted to make it clear that im not some random cross over since brawl, ive been playing in and running tournaments (for both street fighter and Smash) for years now. Allthough I have been more active in the Street Fighter Scene (making sticks and holding larger tournaments) I suck at every street fighter game, so since i loved both games, I decided just to host Street Fighter events and play in Smash events.

Im going the route of guaranteed money because I know that unless it's a well established tournament, im always worried that I could drive for an hour or 2 and end up only having a best case scenario of $50 in winnings, and I dont want to have players wanting to attend my events ever have to worry about that.

Plus to be perfectly honest, this is a way to drum up some excitement for the event!

Yea, alright, sounds pretty good then, its nice to see some other sponsored events, if you get some good hype I'll likely sticky it.

Thanks, this thread is pretty half-***** at the moment...once I get further along in the process I will make a formal post that will be more worthy of a skicky!
