Awkward Tournaments

AKA All tournaments that deviate from Tournament Legal.

Now I haven't played any tournaments at all, but I am interested the non-TL tourneys simply because of variety and unpredictability.

Unfortunately, I don't want to put any concern into tournament play, so I really can't tell for myself.

But if you have ever played an non-TL tourney, please share the experience.

I won that one. Still got the trophy, lol. I fought Korn and some other Melee vets on here and lost back when it first came out. ;p

Today I went to a classic 1P mode tourney at my school. Everyone played classic on easy difficulty with 3 stock, and whoever got the highest score won. I won with Ivysaur spamming bullet seed....


The prizes, though.... were very awkward.

Instead of cash, I got a gift card to iTunes, a gift card to Best Buy, a DVD of "From Russia with Love", a pair of nunchucks, and a stuffed animal penguin.

Umm, this is the melee forum.

I think the only non tournament legal rule set I've ever used was in game crazy tournaments which were FD only 3 stocks, single elim no 2/3, basically made it so I could sweep the tournament REALLY fast lols.

My GameStop managed to make it worse. Random character was forced. I mean, sure, the first round I got Dedede and "3-stocked" my opponent, but when it's your first time playing brawl and you get PT on New Pork City...yeah, not the best.

Wait, Korn said he fought an Olimar in the finals of the GameStop tourney he went to (which is the same one I went to too lol) were you that Olimar?

High Gravity-Metal-Double Damage O.O Lord help us! OMG Con Tournament XD They switched it to this during the last couple matches and like 2/3 of the people were Kirby players lol epic fail
