This is more game-breaking than tripping and it still looks like it will be in the next Smash. Check out the Mario vs Mega Man footage around 1:09 and pay attention to Mega Man's recovery when he grabs the ledge. Earlier in the video shows Mario too if you want to check that out.

Personally, I'll reserve judgment until either I play the game and/or there is more gameplay footage/impressions from the public.

What was this thread for? I don't know why this is game-breaking. It's the same as Brawl. Nothing has changed. That Mega Man did Up-B and then grabbed the ledge. It's obvious.

He considers it game-breaking because it completely cripples the effectiveness of edge-guarding due to auto-assisted game mechanics, something that wasn't present in N64/SSBM. A notion that is completely correct.

I could see bad, but gamebreaking?

Yeah. It cripples offensive options

Essentially it is the equivalent to being in a corner in Street Fighter except in this case, you tech all throws automatically, mix ups are auto blocked, and you can't be crossed over.

On the other hand, this did put players in a position to wear they had to use unsafe tactics to ledge guard, which makes sense. I Guess you can say i'm both against this and for it.

Edgeguarding existed in Brawl and was quite common. Due to the improved recoveries and general floatiness of the game, going off stage offensively isn't a suicidal endeavor. Grabbing the ledge isn't always a safety measure as well; needing to get back on the stage puts you in a limited position. The interesting thing about this is the range of the snap; you'll notice Megaman goes ABOVE the ledge and then snaps. He could have been easily hit from his recovery from the stage, but only with correct timing. There was no "fall" to the ledge.
