Augustus for Brawl!

So, I've been going through and playing older games (I can't stand the people playing Halo 3 on live... so I'm forced to wait until I get some friends to link) and I came across an old favorite, Eternal Darkness. And it hit me. an ED character could fit into Brawl! My suggestion? one of the most important characters, Pious Augustus! I checked things out, and no one has suggested him! MADNESS!

Magic, swords, and staves combined for a unique character! I'm pretty sure Nintendo owns the rights, so it's not a wild suggestion.
Anyways, Augustus for Brawl!

Pious Augustus would indeed be an awesome character and would actually better represent Eternal Darkness than Alexandra Roivas, IMHO. Of course there is that whole issue with Silicon Knights ditching Nintendo so that they could go with HD, but from what I've been told Eternal Darkness is still a Nintendo property so it may still be a possibility, albeit a remote one...

What makes it useless and lame? It's every bit as legitmate as any other character support thread. So I guess we shouldn't post in any of them.

Personally, I'd love to see Eternal Darkness represented in SSB. Its a wonderful game that has somehow been overlooked by most gamers - which is surprising, considering its reviews from both fans and "professional" reviewers have been almost universally great. I'd prefer Alexandra as the representative personally - the main protagonist should take precedent over the main antagonist IMO - but Pious would work well too. The idea of either one using some of the unique Eternal Darkness Magick in an SBB game is simply wonderful, and I could just see them summoning an Ancient as a Final Smash - truly a horrifying attack.

Sadly, I suspect it will be overlooked, just as it has always been. Nintendo has many other unrepresented franchises and games that are in-demand to appear in Brawl - Pikmin, Golden Sun, Nintendo Wars, several retro games, and more - and Eternal Darkness just doesn't have the fan base it'd take to get Sakurai & co's attention. Unless Sakurai or one of the others who could influence the decision is a fan of the series, I doubt we'll see so much as a sticker.

Augustus is the villain, though. Alexandra would have to be in the game before Augustus would even have a chance, and I'd be very surprised if they added 2 ED characters, since 1 isn't even a sure thing. Then again, I wasn't expecting 2 Fire Emblem character to be in Melee.

I think that Alexandra has a reasonable chance, I'm not too sure about Augustus.

But thats probably because you'd never heard of it, or at the least had no inkling of its immense popularity in Japan. Rest assured, it came as no great surprise over there - the only surprise about it was that Roy was one of them. Eternal Darkness is by no means in the same situation, being as it isn't particularly popular anywhere, much less as popular as Fire Emblem.

Anyway, I agree about Alex. If we get an Eternal Darkness rep, it'll almost surely be her.

Personally, I'd say his chances are equal to Alex. I mean, both are just as important, but for some reason I think Augustus would just make for a better character. Either way, and ED rep would be awesome.
Of course as someone said, a sticker may not even show up.
one question: Did ED make it to Japan? that may be a key part in any ED representation.

As awesome as Eternal Darkness was, I don't think we're gonna get a playable character. Hopefully we'll get an AT or something though.

I'd like to see Alex Roivas, since the game definitely needs more female characters, but I likewise doubt her appearance.

They really should bring Eternal Darkness and Twin Snakes to the Wii with Wiimote controls....

Sure did - Wikipedia has it as released there about four months after it was released in the US.

Only similarities I see are the blond hair and ponytail (and both being women of course). Perhaps eye color, but thats tough to make out on Alex with all the shadows.

Pretty much. It was designed by Silicon Knights while they were a second-party developer for Nintendo, but Nintendo has the rights to the game, scenario, etc (its clearly stated in the credits of the game). So perhaps it could even be called first party since Nintendo owns the rights to it, but either way its eligible for Brawl.

Wouldn't that be more Chattur'gha's domain? Ulyaoth was the magic and dimension-controlling one, not the physical might one.

Actually, interestingly enough, it looks like Silicon Knights has announced a sequel to the game is going to be made (got the info off Wikipedia, but it seems reliable - perhaps I'll try to track down the blog where it says the designer made the announcement). If thats true, it may make an ED Brawler more likely, since they'd have to either buy the rights to the game back from Nintendo or produce it for the Wii, and including someone from the first game in Brawl would be a good way to make more people aware of the series' existance.

It would be great if him and/or Rovias get into Brawl. Problem is that it seems they are no longer part of Nintendo just as Rare. Another problem even if they were second party characters, is that they are western characters.
