The SSBB community is quite large, but we need to make sure it keeps GROWING. That's being said, we need to get in touch with casual players, and people who are unaware of Smashboards, to help the community grow. One of the best ways to do this is with YouTube. Though Smashboards gets loads of traffic, and thousands of hits a day, millions of people are on YouTube and other video media sources every day. For every 'noob' we have on smashboards, there are probably two more out there who watch videos and never heard of smashboards. It's quite hard to find if you don't know where to look. After all, it's not like the game's instruction manual has a clause that says "If you want to become pro, check out www.smashboards.com."
That all being said, it will help dramatically if people provide a link to smashboards INSIDE their video, preferably at the beginning or end. It's not hard to do, and if everyone does it, it will help us all as a community. Smash is mainly fun when you have others to play with, so let's help keep the community alive and strong by recruiting.

So basically, all I'm asking is for people to add a simple link in the annotations before or after their video, to help people find their way to smashboards. It doesn't matter what the video is, or is about, so long as it's a SSB related video, the people watching it are interested in SSB, and should be directed to this website. Also, perhaps another link in the video description might help as well. This will eventually help them find their way to tournaments, and help the community grow.A conversation on AIM said:[15:47] steel2nd: not sure if this is the same kind of thing you had in mind but
[15:47] steel2nd: you said for smash vids on youtube
[15:47] steel2nd: you could add something like www.smashboards.com
[15:47] steel2nd: before the vid
[15:47] steel2nd: for advertising
[15:47] steel2nd: could we do something simliar?
[15:47] steel2nd: its also
[15:47] steel2nd: easier with annotations on youtube
[15:47] steel2nd: now
[15:49] Pierce7d: Exactly
[15:49] Pierce7d: If every vid had that, we'd get a lot more scrubs on smashboards, which is good
[15:49] Pierce7d: There are a lot of scrubs on smashboards, but twice as many on youtube
[15:50] steel2nd: yea
