ATTENTION SOUTHWEST STATES! Help me plan for E for All...

EDIT#2: Well, looks to me I've made a GRAVE miscalculation in gas... it'll be $400 round trip... someone please... help me.

Hello everyone. How do you do? In case we haven't met my name (real one) is Davis Wonders... my tag is obviously Kashakunaki. I live in Albuqerque, NM and I play Smash on the competitive level and I've been playing the game since the original came out.

So... I how a dilema... well, more like multiple dilemas. The deadline for E for All ticket purchases were today, October 12th, so I was rushed into buying one without really planning... and, well, hey, guess what?! I'm going by myself... no friends or anyone decided to come with me. They didn't have the money or it, wasn't "worth" their time... *sigh*

-The Problems-

So! I have an 800 mile treck to make from my home in Albuquerque to the convention center in Los Angeles California. If I were to take my car, estimating gas prices at $3 per gallon and my car getting 12 miles per gallon, it would cost $130 (roughly) in gas to and fro... and seeing as how I'm going by myself I have a wonderful 16 hours of driving time by myself with no one to split the gas costs between. This is where you guys come in... any donations, well, heh, would be wonderful.

I'm going to be sleeping in my car as is. I'm taking Friday off from school and leaving Thursday after school for California, drive for about four hours, stop for the night, and get there the next morning (driving the rest of the four hours). Does anyone think I could crash at their house on the half way point?

When I get there I'm just gonna sleep in my car... I have a $50 Pizza Hut gift card so I should be good for food... but other than lacking money and a travel partner I think I'm fine. If anyone else in the area happens to be going and would like to carpool... well, that'd be swell!

Okay, sorry for the very confusing post... but yeah, I'm a little lost here. Could my fellow Smashers throw me a bone and help me out here? Help me plan or something? Just asking.

i would love to help, i have cousins in AZ but it would be at least an hour or so out of your way. and that is assuming they would agree. but i live in utah so i am out of the way

Well thank you for your consideration, anyways. I appreciate it.

Right now (as I can't find anyone to freaking carpool with) I'm trying to see if one of my friends won't trade me cars for the weekend so I can get a car with better gas mileage.

My friend has a car that gets 32 MPG on the highway, which would mean I'd only be paying about $170 in gas, which I think I can manage... but he won't let me borrow it and I don't know how I can convince him.

Wow, that sucks so bad about your car... Hmm... Yeah, also you'd be kinda hard pressed at some points gas wise. I'd be scared of hitting a snag on I-10 (if that is the way you are going) or the like and running out. >.o I can give you some travel tips about where the cheapest gas is in LA (listen to news 980 AM and they list places every half hour, I advise getting a good map)

If you were coming Wednesday/Thursday I could offer a place to sleep, the small portions of food to share and a decently clean bathroom. Oh yeah, we could totally play Melee. That is the most I can really do though, sorry man.

Though while you are here if you do desperately need a place to shower you are welcome to stop on by one night, but I'll be busy during the day.

Thanks Gea. I didn't even think about hygiene... I don't want to be a typical "smelly gamer" Ugh... nasty.

Well, one of my friends says he has a car that gets 40 MPG... 40 MILES PER GALLON!!! That would make my gas prices under $100. I'm gonna see if I can't get him to lend me it... and if not... I'll talk to his parents about it =P.

There might be a chance yet. And again, thank you very much Gea. Sadly if (I swear I will) do go I'll be Friday morning to Sunday afternoon =/
