Hello people of the world. I want to know what countries in your opinion on the worlds most powerful country(or countries) Opinions must be supported by facts.
Ex: I think Russia is the most powerfully armed country because of their nuclear weapons.

To me the most military armed countries are Turkey(Lots of training), USA(One of the countries with the best technology), Russia( as stated before because of their nuclear weapons), and China(BIG army)

And please,be very serious about this.

The United States has the strongest military in the world by far. It's the best trained, best equipped, most professional and the most technologically advanced. We can project force without putting anyone within a thousand miles of the target, whether it's with cruise missiles or unmanned drones.

The size of a country's military is irrelevant (after all, Iraq had one of the largest militaries in the world when we invaded), as are the number of nukes a country possesses (since those are pretty much useless in modern warfare). The United States is the only country in the world which can project force globally.

**** yeah!!
Get 'er done!!

In any way, I personally think countries shouldn't be compared through militaristic strengths but economical strengths, human rights advancement, a role model in environmental poilcy, and a willingness to create peaceful dialog between countries.

But as always, the guy with the biggest **** always wins....until it's chopped off.ψ(`∇´)ψ

The great Shinobi forces have all five lands combined, including the Samurais.

Madara doesn't stand a chance.

most professional
Come on now, the American military is a lot of things, but professional and dignified is not one of them.

Not that it matters but still...

Her Majesty's Armed Forces beg to differ

Yeah you answered yourself there, nobody gives a **** about how many daisies you can chain or how many AIDS victims you can cure. It's all about being able to kill the most people. Might makes right, it's a fact of nature.

I don't mean professional in terms of conduct. I mean professional in that it's comprised of volunteers who by and large choose soldiering as a profession, as opposed to Russia's conscript army which is plagued by attrition and desertion.

And after the soviet union fell, they lost a good chunk of technology. Sold a bunch on the black market/to other countries after trying to outpace the US In the 'WE ARE GONNA MAKE SCARY STUFF' war.
Aka thank you James bond and your fake weapons. Soviets immitate 007 movies? We get all of the laughs.
And also stuff like this: http://m.wonderhowto.com/news/wonderment/area-51-fooled-soviets-with-fake-spy-planes-0127622/
Looking back, parts of the cold war like this were freaking hilarious

And basically, I agree with Jam. There's a lot of money and time put forth for the US military branches. And, it's crazy to see how many people volunteer to risk life and limb on a battlefield as a career. And not crazy in a bad way.

People are always highly motivated to throw themselves into danger to protect what they find precious.

It's why the invading army always has somewhat of a disadvantage, because locals are inherently more motivated to fight a threat to their homeland.

Of course this doesn't quite fit the situation of the US, but ultimately the focus of the US Military is to protect American interests, so the people are more than happy to help.

China is most powerful country. From 30 years from now china well be a powerful country.
Most powerful country =/= most powerful military.
China's military still falls short of the US and Russian militaries.

Also, isn't it rare for America to have wars with other countries fought on their own soil? Yes, there's Pearl Harbor and 9/11, but other than those, I can't think of too many direct attacks on American soil. Admittedly, I've become rusty with my history, so if anyone can correct me, please do so (preferably without bashing).

The War of 1812 and The Revolution was fought on US soil.

Military buff here. Was writing a big essay until smashboards derped on me. Here's a TL:DR of it. I'll go into more detail if you ask about a particular country :). These are listed in order of most powerful armed forces.

U.S.A-Superpower

China-Psuedo Super Power

Russia-Psuedo Super Power

India

Britian

Israel

Rest of the Nuclear Powers

After that it starts going into the who cares territory. Only ones that come to mind are the Koreas/Japan and the rest of the middle east because those two areas are the primary source of tension in today's world.

Excuse me?

How do you figure that China is only 'psuedo'. They just dont go throwing their weight around, but if they felt like it, the world would surely know.

And where is South/North Korea in that list. Putting Israel above them is... strange.

India has more nukes than North Korea. The UN has been holding Korea back from building nukes for years—it was only until somewhat recently that they began doing so. Here is a proper list of nuclear armory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons

Country — Warheads Active/Total
United States — 2,150/8,000
Russia — 1,800/10,000
France — 290/300
United Kingdom — 160/225
China — n.a/240
Israel — n.a/80-200
Pakistan — n.a/90-110
India — n.a/80-100
North Korea — n.a/<10

I wouldn't even consider China (or Russia) "pseudo" super powers, at least in military terms. They have influence regionally, but neither of those countries has the resources to deploy military forces globally.

I say psuedo because they aren't on the U.S.'s level yet. They are probably increasing their power at a rate better than anyone else though.

-china doesn't have nearly as many nuclear weapons as us.(face it this is a null point though because once you hit a certain number the worlds going bye bye anyway)

-china has the manpower, but not enough technology and enough power on all 3 areas: land, sea, and air. Yes, they are trying to develop advanced technology(example, the j-20 fighter to rival the american f-22) but they wont be able to propagate it nearly enough. Most of their airforce is still flying obsolete soviet jets, with only a small portion using modern j-10s and chinese built modern su-27s. Lastly, care to tell me where the chinese navy is, let alone how they would ever hope to compete with the 10 largest floating airbases in existence, also known as U.S. Super carriers, each of which has a large escorting task force of state of the art ships. The Chinese Navy can't compete with Britain's Navy, let alone the U.S.

South and North Korea aren't that strong in reality. North may have nukes, and if it does its only a handful.

Israel has been long suspected of possessing nukes, but more importantly, they have one of the most experienced and best trained armies in the world, armed with both modern Israeli made weapons, and modern U.S. equipment they imported. Israel has been through so many wars since their inception and has only "lost" one of them IIRC (the Yom Kippur war if memory serves right). You'd be hard pressed to find many armies with more well trained and battle hardened forces than Israel.

I think the 2006 Lebanon war can be considered a strategic defeat for Israel.

Alright, thanks.

With two wars fought on U.S. soil, doesn't that give the U.S. a pretty good track record of not having wars fought on their home turf... or is the U.S. still too young to really determine that kind of rarity?
