I mean, I had this problem before when I was living with my parents. In which they wanted the modem/router with their computer, which was in their room, and then my consoles were in my room. And getting a really long ethernet cable would've been stupid (not like they would want an ethernet cable going out their door and into my room anyways,) and I couldn't move the router/modem anywhere closer. So some people just don't have the freedom to use a wired connection for similar reasons.
