Sudden Death is a fine tie-breaker method to me. I never questioned its existence.
But this isn't a major competition. It's a game designed for entertainment. A game that's obviously gone on too long. It was most likely a conscious design choice when they went with sudden death and bombs instead of an extra round. It's objectively funner.
Yup. People more often than not tend to forget this.

Yup. People more often than not tend to forget this.
You and Nintendo are missing the point that for some people, the entertainment comes from winning on pure skill. It's not objectively funner for there to be a sudden death with bombs. That's about as true as saying playing with all items on is objectively funner. It's "fun" in the sense that it's not serious, but the fun from a competitive game is different, and completely ignored in this design. And for people saying that making a different kind of Sudden Death is implausible because it would have to change Sudden Death for all modes, no it doesn't. Just like we can toggle items or game options, there's no reason we can't be allowed to tweak Sudden Death options.
