If b.jr is using side b to recover his flight path is diagonal downward so he can fall into spiking territory. dont always want to start our vertical recovery (up b) right away which is alsogood for spikes.
Off stage Pikachu down b is scary too

FYI this video isn't working. It might be on your or a group's wall the rest of us don't have access to. But a character with a very vertical recovery is more prone to spikes, yes, because you don't really have any direction to go but up. This gives your opponent plenty of time to predict where you're going especially if you don't sweetspot, and can lead to spikes. It's good to mix up your recovery if you're spike prone. Sometimes it might be good to recover low or actually onto the stage to avoid a spike.

I don't think they are. You can airdodge out of up b if you are feeling you need to be defensive, or you can attack depending on spacing. Bowser Jr is no more vulnerable than other characters with vertical recoveries that don't have hurtboxes - and his has the option of one.

But honestly, it's the characters with HORIZONTAL recoveries that are prone to spikes, no vertical recoveries.

Disagreed. Characters like DK andDuck Hunt and Olimar are more prone to spikes because their recovery cannot make it past an aggressive spiker - and DK is screwed because he can barely rise vertically with his Up B. There are other characters with this weakness as well.

Having a vertical recovery means that, after a spike, you can up B to get back to where you were or higher. Bjr's isn't worse than other vertical recoveries, especially since he still has options such as airdodge or attack - same as sonic/megaman.

Just learned today that even after double jumping you can still side B, jump out of THAT and then up B. Metors/spikes should not be much of a problem. At the very least I cannot imagine in the slightest that Bowser Jr. is extremely susceptible to them.

Good point - Bowser Jr has horizontal recovery too.

Yeah, I'd say BJR has some of the best options against spikes compared to other characters being able to recover horizontally, vertically or a combination.
