Guys, we live in 2014. We've been to the moon and beyond. 1080P and more is now available on YouTube and consols. Connections have been established making downloading movies a matter of seconds. Just take a look around you wherever you are and see how much we've accomplished when it comes to technology!

But you're telling me, Smash 4 is going to be "Lacking in quality" just because it's on a handheld?

Lol

But we've been on the moon long before handheld gaming existed

Honestly its because people don't accept change. They refuse to accept innovation or anything new.

People just sometimes have unrealistically high expectations for the 3DS version, after seeing the Wii U version in action.
I, however, am getting JUST the 3DS version!
And NO ONE here is living in the past, anymore. In the 21st century, we want everything NOW, while the past gets dumped, mercilessly.

A handheld can only do so much. Expecting it to perform things like the Wii U in unrealistic.

I think this thread can be saved once we have comparisons of the Original 3DS, the XL and -for those Japanese users on here- the New 3DS.

Screen resolution, graphic comparison, frame rate, etc.

Depend on who or what said on quality. If it's competitive/core players that keep on saying this is because of various reasons (C-stick not available until months after Japan release of new 3DS with one, screen resolution would be hard on certain people's eyes, game limitations just because there's not enough power like in the upcoming Wii U version, etc.). Maybe because its a new game, but more on the fact that the 3DS will cause problems for some folks here. It's just inevitable.

I think the Vita has better specs than the WiiU

I think the 3ds version is just a great little treat for all Smash fans to get ready for the main course that is the Wii U version. Personally I'm just excited to try a new smash, and test out all the new characters. I'm sure it won't be as great as the Wii U version, but it will be great handheld game in its own right. I thought Street Fighter and Dead or Alive worked well on the 3ds, I don't see why Smash would be any different. (One caveat: I just can't see playing this on a regular 3ds though, the screen is too small to see all the action going on)

There is no "better" or "unsuperior" version. Each version is unique. I hate the fact people keep saying the 3DS version will suck. Just cause of the graphics or "no c-stick"

The 3ds still isn't on par with the wii. I don't think it will be horrible, but I think it's pretty obvious that the wii u version will be superior in most ways.

Is it so shocking to people that a console game just might be better looking, better feeling, and better playing than a handheld equivalent?

The only exception I ever found to that was Mario Tennis on GBC, and the only thing that felt better was the angle the ball went and the ability for a zero-strength character to clear the net.

Worse than the Wii U? Reasonable, since portables are almost always weaker than consoles in terms of power, so if you compare them side by side you'll definitely notice the corners that the 3DS had to cut, like 30 FPS Assist Trophies.

"Lacking in quality" though? I doubt it. From what Zipzo and other demogoers have said, the game is looking to be really good.

Some people like to jump the gun and hate on handhelds because of the inherent weaker power, but I'm sure most of the haters are just exaggerating to get their opinions across.

What is the point of this thread? Attacking people who prefer the WiiU version?

I'm sorry that I like a comfortable controller.
I'm sorry that I like a screen big enough to see the ****ing game on.
I'm sorry that I prefer a higher quality visual experience.
I'm sorry that I find the WiiU more suitable to my experience than the 3DS.

But most of all, I'm sorry that your pretentious elitism is still plaguing this subforum.

Oh. Well this not what I expected this to be from the title. Good job, and I agree with the point that you're trying to make.

I hate to say it, but if you took actually took offense to his post, then you missed the main point of what he was saying and you're actually the type of person that he was talking about (lightly poking fun at, but definitely not "attacking").

This isn't the first instance in which a thread has been started by OP trying to convince people of the 3DS's merits. I'm just making my points heard, even if I'm quite curt in saying so. People are free to like whichever version they prefer more, there's no need to try and force the version you like more on other people-- which is what I meant by "pretentious elitism." I will share my thoughts, but I won't force them down people's throats.

Don't worry, no offense was taken.

That's exactly what he is saying too.

You think that he is trying to "force" the 3DS version on people, but actually he's directing that message towards the people who are trying to "force" the Wii U version on others.

Sooo, saying "stop calling the 3DS version bad" is a negative thing to make a thread about? This is the 3DS version forum; we should be talking about the 3DS version's merits.

nintendo games have always been closer to ****ty than to edge technology, in terms of graphics for their respective time.

That is blatantly false. Their consoles have been pretty similar to their rivals in power up to the gamecube.

Yes.

Information can only travel so fast, nothing is done instantly, and that applies even to our bodies.

Each time a part of our body gets stimulated in a certain way, information is sent to our brain, where it's processed and translated into something we can understand. This applies to touch, hearing, sight, you name it.

All of this takes time, by the time we actually understand that information, a few milliseconds have passed, and we can no longer say that what we're currently feeling is something that's happening at the exact same time as we're actually feeling it.

And that's not even considering that external information has to travel before it reaches our body. Light might be fast, but it still travels at a limited speed. So by the our eyes sends all that data to our brain collected from the light, that information is already olddated. This goes double for hearing, as soundwaves are even slower than light.

So yes, as a matter of fact, we're all living in the past. We will never be able to truly experience the present.

"Are you pressed yet, WiiU users?"

idk that looks a lot like provoking people to me. It doesn't appear to me as innocent and positive as you're making it out to be. Perhaps my responses have been harsh, but only to refute the lack of necessity of sending your message in poor taste, not necessarily the objective of the message itself.

The Gamecube, the N64, the SNES, the NES, they were all more powerful than their competition at the time of release.

Heck, they were usually stroger than their competition, the N64 was miles ahead of the PSX in terms of hardware, and the Gamecube was a bit more capable than the PS2 too.

The NES eventually competed against more powerful systems, but when it was released, it was so much superior to other consoles it was ridiculous, and the SNES was pretty much the first console that could match the quality found in arcades.

That is blatantly false. Nintendo uses older, cheaper, technology and pushes it to the limit. Gunpei Yokoi started this trend, and has been a thing ever since the gameboy.

That was only really a thing on handhelds, take a look at their home consoles.

The Wii is the first time they've ever had a cheaper, weaker home console than the competition.

And? Wii u still barely surpasses 360. It's not "current-gen" hardware by any means.
I am so getting flamed for this.

Man, I don't give a damn about which version will be superior than the other, in fact, people shouldn't even be disputing over that matter like out of control fanboys, I'm getting both versions of the game.

And besides, I've always wanted to experience what Smash Bros. will be like on a handheld console.
