Smash Cadet
April 25th, 2015 marks the final installment of the House of Paign Tournament Series for the year, but this time, all proceeds will be going to charity!
You can view the Facebook Page for this event at: https://www.facebook.com/events/796713763699047/
If you intend to compete, please fill out a registration form before 4/20/2015 at www.TheSmashingIllini.com/Registration
You may view the list of registered entrants at www.TheSmashingIllini.com/Attendees
We will accept registration at the door, but it would be greatly appreciated if all attendees filled out the registration form ahead of time. Registration at the door will end at 10AM for all events. Venue fee at the door will be $15 as opposed to $10 if you register online. You will only be reimbursed on equipment that your pre-register - $2 per console or CRT, $5 for a full setup (Console + CRT). If you pre-register equipment and fail to bring it to the event, you will be charged a $10 fee at the door.
The Illinois Student Senate will be Co-Sponsoring the event in support of the #ItsOnUs Campaign to take a definitive stance against sexual harassment. Instead of collecting a typical venue fee, we will be taking in donations to raise awareness about sexual harassment across the nation. Ending sexual harassment has been a top priority of the Smash Community, especially since many notable members of the community took a stance against infamous tournament organizer Alex Strife's repeated sexual misconduct and abuse. This is a cause I hope we can all get behind as a community to establish a zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment, and this tournament will be a testament to our community's power to stand up against misconduct that has no place in Smash, no place at Schools, and no place in Society. #ItsOnUs to #EndThePaign!
House of Paign is the fastest growing tournament series in Central Illinois, drawing regional players in from all over to attend our monthly tournament series. It will be hosted in the Illini Union Ballroom featuring a huge projector screen, live-stream, recording setups, professional commentary, tons of room for setups and a food court located at the site of the venue! - GET HYPE!!!
Timetable (all times are subject to change, these are merely estimates)
9am-10am - Registration + Setup
10am-1pm - Melee Doubles
12pm-6pm - Smash 4 Bracket
1pm-3pm - Melee Pools
3pm-5pm - Project M Pools
5pm-6pm - Dinner Break
6pm-8:30pm - Melee Bracket
8:30pm-11pm - Project M Bracket
Scheduling at previous House of Paigns has been a problem, so we will be strictly enforcing the schedule this time. Disqualifications will be issued without a second thought if players are not on time.
If you have any equipment (CRT TV, Wii, Gamecube, Wii U, HD Monitor, N64, ANYTHING) then PLEASE bring it with you! We're expecting over 200 people to show up so any extra setups are greatly appreciated! Your entry fee will be reduced or waived if you pre-register a setup for the tourney! We will have setups for Melee, Project M and Smash 4. Smash 4 Matches may be played on either a Wii U or 3DS.
If you do not intend to compete, we ask that all spectators make a minimum donation of $1. Please feel free to bring as many friends as you want, and stick around for as long as you'd like! Accommodating casual players is just as big a priority for us as competitive players!
Please be on time, as we will begin disqualifying players 15 minutes into pools. If you are disqualified you will NOT receive a refund! Our time at the venue officially ends at 11, but I'm sure we can stick around for a bit after that; either way, we will try to stick to this schedule as much as possible!
Our payouts for all events will be as follows:
Events under 64 entrants: 60/30/10
Events over 63 entrants: 40/20/15/10/5 (each)/2.5 (each)
If you intend to do any commentary, please dress and speak appropriately. Understand that commentators will be the voice (and faces) of our community, and that we reserve the right to deny anyone the privilege to commentate for any reason.
NOTE: Most parking meters surrounding the venue are free on the weekends; however, the meters directly in front of the venue are not free. Most university parking lots (marked with a blue and orange sign) are free to park at on the weekends. The nearest parking lot is located on the East side of the Venue.
