It's been a long time coming, but we finally have Smash on the go!
I was ECSTATIC when I first heard the Summer announcement, as it was way earlier than I, or any of us, ever expected. I thought maybe mid to late November!
How do you feel about the game so far? Is it what you thought it would be? Any and all positive comments (and questions, with me and everyone else) are welcome. Who knows? Maybe we'll end up battling each other when the game comes out!

Everything really. But at the top of my list, I have to say the portability. Portability is really important to me.

Thanks, Tornado_Man. I'm very excited that it's finally portable. So much so, I sold all 3 other Smash games to boost my 3DS games collection! I know that seems counter-productive on this site, but I'm a serious fan of the upcoming 3DS game, and equally excited to be a part of this community.

Good to hear! And I'm sure that the choice to sell the Smash games was a great one, because this game might just be better than the others imo. Best Smash so far, for many reasons. The decision to create a version on 3DS was genius.

A lot of my friends don't think it will live up to its potential because of the analog stick on the 3ds and the form factor, but I'm too excited to care, plus you can leave the hardcore stuff for the wii u

Good point. I only have my trusty 3DS that I currently play (the avatar picture is a big indication of that), and have no plans to purchase the Wii U, even for that version of Smash. I have nothing against it: it's just that the 3DS is so all-inclusive, I'm actually content with just that as my only Nintendo system now!

I basically had to select everything but the release date. Not soon enough!

Lying about my country.
I've been wanting a handheld Smash since GBA times. Looking back, it wouldn't really have been too good on that console without dumbing down the gameplay a little bit because of the few buttons and a potentially ugly zoom of the camera because of the game pretty much needing to be 2D, but I still wanted it.

I was secretly wishing for one on the DS too, since it would have been able to handle it much better, but I had pretty much given up at that point.

So when the 3DS was revealed, with the analog circle pad, I was like "Dude, it's now or never."

And it happened.

I'm still super hyped about it, so I still go WTF whenever I see people dismissing the 3DS version so badly. There's no way I'll be skipping the Wii U version, but I've been wanting a handheld Smash for so long that I'd probably get both version in the same day if they were released together.

Seriously, handheld Smash Bros is pure orgasmic awesomeness.

So yeah, that's my favorite aspect. Smash Run is a ****ing fantastic bonus too, it was totally the best thing about Air Ride, so to see an equivalent come into one of my favorite multiplayer games ever is just super hype. As long as graphics are within the standard for the system (which they are) I got nothing to complain about, don't give a **** about stages, but having the same roster is pretty cool, even if it takes away from the hype for the Wii U version a little bit.

ohmygodicouldjustpourouteverythinghere.

Ever since Melee, I've been dreaming about a portable smash. I thought it would be a good idea, and I've even strayed to Action Replay for things like this. When I saw that the new one was for 3DS also I was like
OH MY GOD.

Just going on about my years of dreaming for a portable smash would be boring, so I'll just say this.

The graphics look amazing. Smash run looks amazing. I'm in love with the new fighters. I think it's going to be amazing in every way.

I myself have been clamoring for a portable Smash since the GBA but I feel now just isn't the best time with how dire the situation with the Wii U is.
A lot of you are saying that you won't be needing the Wii U now that you can play Smash on 3ds and that seems to be everyone's general opinion.
The 3ds version looks great but it feels like it'll really hurt the Wii U. It should've been released much later but y'know #3DSMasterRace.
Also the Wii U stages appeal to me more than the 3ds stages. Except Prism Tower, Arena Ferox, and Rainbow Road look good.
And while I like how the 3ds looks with the black outlines (not sure why people hate that), the Wii U's art style just looks so much more vibrant.

I'm not sure why Selection of Fighters is an option since they're the same for both versions.

*cough* I should probably add something so I don't sound so negative...
Smash Run looks amazing. I love how they took from Kirby's Air Ride City Trials.
And I suppose I can't complain about the release date.

Yeah, I agree, although the Summer release window was sooner than many of us thought!
Still, yeah, I kinda sorta want it now.

I think portability is the winner here.

I've wanted a portable Smash since I've played Melee like a decade ago.
I know how you feel, especially when the DS could've ported the original Smash, like Mario 64 DS, when it had the chance to expand on it, and make it a deluxe edition. Sigh...

There are a lot of 3DS owners that would like to think otherwise. I think it'll do just fine without another analog stick, as it has with past Smash games. And the 3DS is built for short bursts of gaming on the go, so the handling shouldn't be too bad, since I've tried it with Super Street Fighter IV. Me breaking the system in frustration, however...

Thanks for the detailed reply, Flaxr XIII! I hope there's more like it to come.
Regarding the selection of fighters, it's about whether you're happy with the choice of fighters so far, or not, and if you feel excited there's actually going to be this many, and equal to the big brother Wii U version. That's about it, I think.
Thanks again!

I'm so excited for it! I'm already wondering how I'll configure the button scheme, since I usually leave it to default. BUT MAYBE NOT THIS TIME AROUND

Sorry if I'm a major derp/idiot here, but when was changing the controls announced? I'm guessing it's an option because a lot of people are talking about it.

Unfortunately Sakurai kinda basically said the 3DS online would be crap.
Portability won.
Not exactly true, he warned us about the online. I'm guessing online would not be as stable as the Wii U version.

Anyway, I've wanted a portable smash ever since I had this one dream about playing smash on the GBA, so I guess my dream has came true(Well it already came true thanks to an 64 emulator on my phone).

I'm pretty sure both versions still will be good as long as you don't have crap speed internet. 3DS might need a bit more higher speeds but we might as well just wait and see.

I'm fine as long as the online doesn't disconnect every five seconds -cough- brawl -cough-

Actually, I don't know if it's been officially said, but I think most people assume custimization will exist, the primary reason being it was in Brawl and the secondary reason being that customization is somewhat expected in more modern games such as this.

Edit: It's definitely possible that the For Glory Mode will run much smoother than the other mode (forget its name, sue me) because of the lack of lag-causing factors (moving stages, Pokemon or Assist Trophies, the presence of potnetially four people, and the fact that multiple items are present on screen with the fact that some of those items are more lag-causing than others, probably)

Those reasons are speculative, but you get my drift.

I'm just ready for it to be out! I'm honestly glad that it will be portable. It will be nice to play on road trips my friends and I will be going on. I know that when I'm not driving I'll be playing smash!

I'm very excited, just for the main fact that its portable. I like my 3DS and phone more than any console I have, simply because I find them easier to pick up and play, and Smash is that type of game to me.

"This is perfect", I first thought when I heard the news.

I don't care if the newcomer list so far has been meh, the fact that it's portable more than makes it up for me. I'm the kind of person who's up and about instead of at home, so this kind of game appeals to me.

Oh boy portable, think of all the places you can play it. At the park, beach, in the store, in bed, sitting on the toilet, on a bus, at school, while doing a handstand, while eating chocolate waffles, while doing your math homework, while skydiving, while in the shower, while being mauled to death by a grizzly bear. oh all the possibilities.

I was already hyped for this game when Sakurai said that he wanted to make the next Smash on the 3DS (This was before they also announced the Wii U version). I think it's a good thing that it is having an extremely similar console counterpart because otherwise many people would disregard Smash 4 as casual like Brawl, simply for being on a handheld system. (and no C-stick)
