Any news on Palm Harbor scenes?

For a while now I've wanted to get good at Melee, but I haven't had many people to play against. I especially wanted to play against someone better than me, so that I could learn to play more properly. Netplay was a consideration, but I'm worried on how much the input lag will affect me. I tried checking out the forums here however, the last post concerning anything near my area was in 2009. I checked the Facebook groups as well, but the majority of them are in Orlando which is much too far. I'd honestly be fine with any sort of Smash scene, Melee or not, I just want some other people to play with, y'know?
tldr; Where are the Palm Harbor players at?
