I feel this should be about complex English questions.

Because I honestly want to know, and I don't want go search it on the internets.

Why is "geese" the plural of "goose", but "moose" is the plural of "moose"? Should it not be "meese"?

I am a graduate of NU with a degree in English. But the internet is where I found the best answer ^^;

From: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/If_the_plural_of_goose_is_geese_why_isn't_the_plural_of_moose_meese

Goose is from the Germanic root, and its plural was adopted into Old English as "geese". This is an abnormal plural.

Moose is of Algonquin (Amerindian) origin and has a plural of "moose".

(The listing in the Urban Dictionary is obviously intended as humor.)

The word "moose" came to us from Algonquian Indians. Consequently its plural, instead of being "mooses" or "meese", is the same as the singular "moose." That is true of most Indian names whether of a tribe, such as the Winnebago and Potawatomi, or of an object such as papoose. It is also true of many wildlife names not of Indian origin -- for example: deer, mink and grouse.

I feel we should TRY and stay consistent. D:

The plural of goose should be goose **** it.
lol yeah, it's why English as a secondary language students have such a hard time. i mean, I thought french class was tough, but I have no idea how hard it must be for the poor kids that have to learn English after years of much more organized language structures like the romance languages. If anything it's why I've strongly considered joining one of those fly-to-japan-and-teach-English programs, but I want to know some Japanese before I strongly consider it.

French is harder than English. True fact.
And that's coming from a kid that's fluent in french, not in english.
Well, I am kinda fluent in English, but that doesn't mean that my vocabulary's any advanced.

Yup, the English Language messes with you.

I never understood the point of Masculine and Feminine words in Italian...
