Well let's see, I know I've heard people saying there are unofficial confirmations that Sheik, Ganondorf and Luigi will be back, so I don't know if they should be included or not. (And Luigi and Ganondorf are two I definitely want returning, although the latter with a different moveset, not sure about Sheik really)

But anyway, aside from those already shown, who do you want or think will be dropped?

My opinions:

Ness: There's a 50/50 chance either way. I've heard Sakurai intended to replace him with Lucas in Melee, but didn't get around to it for some reason. Maybe he finally got around to it? Or perhaps Ness is too popular to take out? There's nothing wrong with Earthbound/Mother having two representatives.

Jigglypuff: Personally I wouldn't care, but I know there are people who probably would. And I've heard something about one of the original 12 not returning.

Captain Falcon: I think it's likely he'll return, especially with Samurai Goroh as an assist trophy.

Mr. Game and Watch: He was a nice nod to Nintendo's past, but... meh, I'm fine with him not returning.

Falco: I'd be fine with him coming back, but they'd have to differenate him from Fox a little more, but the question is... HOW can they change him from Fox?

Dr. Mario: No, unless he were to be an alternate costume for Mario, I'd be fine with that. (And since I hear Mario's moves are more like Dr. Mario's that only further supports the notion that he's not coming back)

Pichu/Mewtwo: This kinda applies to both (and probably Jigglypuff as well). With Pikachu and three Pokemon playable through the Pokemon Trainer, do they really need more Pokemon playable? (Not to mention a whole bunch of them coming out of Pokeballs)

Marth/Roy: We have Ike already, so I'm guessing one or the other will return. (Maybe both, but for some reason I doubt it) I'd put my money on Marth being more likely to come back.

I'm hoping (and thinking) Pichu and Dr. Mario will be dropped. I also think that Roy will be dropped. I'm hoping that Young Link is completely dropped. (and it's likely.) The rest of them are up in the air. Although Ness is clearly the next least probable character of returning.

I expect Pichu, Doc, and Roy to be dropped - Doc and Pichu due to being redundant and unpopular, Roy due to being unqualified to be in (especially compared to other FE characters) now that he can't be an add.

I hope Young Link joins them, due to being redundant, but fear that popular demand may cause his return in cel-shaded form.

Beyond them, I wouldn't bat an eye if Ness, Sheik, or Jigglypuff left, but the rest should stay. Luigi is a big "duh," Captain Falcon is a must-have as an F-Zero rep, Marth is the best possible rep for Fire Emblem, Falco a wonderful third rep for Star Fox (after Fox and Krystal), Ganondorf a must-have, Mewtwo an iconic legendary Pokèmon, and Mr. Game & Watch just plain deserves it (due to being Nintendo's first character and an homage to the man who created the handheld video game industry).

I did. And I agree with most of your thoughts. I'm just saying, that's an awfully big number. The only character I truly WANT gone is Dr. Mario. And there are only about 4 characters, including him, that I really think will go. Well, to be honest some of them, I'm not sure on, and I'd be okay with them coming back or not. I definitely want Luigi and Ganondorf back. As for Game & Watch, well... I'm okay either way really. As because they already have 4 Pokemon playable (Admittingly, 3 through Pokemon Trainer) I don't know how many more Pokemon they would need.

Marth and Ness.. it's hard to say, but I think that their new generation counterparts are just as good..
They don't really need to be in the game.

There's more deserving characters than Falco.. If they have enough room for him, then sure, I guess.
Just don't make him a clone.. The same goes for Young Link.
They could have made him a lot different from Link, but they didn't have time. This time, they do..

Jigglypuff, Falcon, G&W, Mewtwo and the rest of the people should stay..
a few of them didn't get enough love in Melee, and Brawl could be a great new start for them.

I kind of hope that Sheik returns.. I haven't seen Sheik's TP design, and if it's as much of an improvement as the OoT Link and Zelda to TP Link and Zelda, I'd love to see it..
Just don't make Sheik broken. Zelda's moveset would look empty without Sheik anyways

I just think we don't need multiple versions of essentially the same person - Dr. Mario, Young Link, and (basically) Pichu. Roy, on the other hand, I just don't think has the importance or popularity needed. Sure he had his little advertising stunt, but other than that I think he can get the boot since we've got Ike.

wow... almost every unlockable characters in Melee will be dropped. Its somehow curious.

Here is what I hope happens:

YL: OUT. He was in because of OoT, but now he isn't related to any LOZ game released lately
Ness: IN. He must return, I second him in Melee, anyway he has a slight chance
Jigglypuff: OUT. I know its good at fight, but I really never used it, just like punching bag
Captain Falcon: he is in obviously because of Samurai Goroh being an AT
G&W: OUT. But as the ICs are in, I think Sakurai will make him return
Falco: I don't know what to say... if they declone him, he would lose his original melee essence, but he has potential
Sheik: OUT. As YL, is from an old game, and may be replaced with Zero Suit Samus.
Dr. Mario: OUT. He is Mario...with a lab coat. God, those guys were smart putting him in.
Ganondorf: IN. It would be a waste not using his new TP image and abilities to declone him
Pichu: OUT. It was fun to play as him and with to others so you could say "I kicked your a$$ with Pichu!!"
but is a waste, considering that other characters deserve more that slot.
Mewtwo: I really don't care what happens with this one
Marth: IN. C'mon, he is popular and lots of people (including me) main him in Melee. Also, it would increase the sales of his new game.

One character that I NEVER play as is Mr. Game & Watch. I don't know what it is, but I can't stand that mofo.

• Pichu - obvious enough. He might make an OK costume, but I hate his guts anyway.
• Dr. Mario - he would make a good costume
• Roy - I like Marth too much. He needs to go.

Either Way:

• Sheik - Nerfed, and preferably as a separate character, would be OK, I guess.
• Ness - If Lucas doesn't share his moves (or many of them), he can stay.
• G&W - Never used him, don't care. As a non-clone he seems like a shoe-in, but I hope that they make him better this time.
• Young Link - WW version only, and there are plenty of good Zelda reps to replace him: Midna + Wolf Link and Skull Kid are the obvious choices.
• Jigglypuff - Either way, but I'm leaning towards keep. He/she/it's OK, I guess, but I've never been too fond of jiggly.

Keep:

• Mewtwo - I hope that M2 gets a boost to make him more playable.
• Captain Falcon - Shoe-in.
• Ganondorf - if he doesn't stay, and isn't TP-ified, Sakurai is going to pay.
• Falco - Stay. I actually want him in even if he is still a clone of fox, but if they come up with a good moveset for him, declone. I would put him over Krystal any day.
• Marth - Stay, but he needs to be hit with the nerf bat. In particular, I would knock is KO moves down a notch, but keep in mind that the nerfs to grabs across the board will probably hit Marth pretty hard.

EDIT: This list is more or less in order: I start with the person I want to be dropped most and end with the one I want to stay most. Also, please remember that IKE IS NOT REPLACING MARTH. Read Gimpyfish's Brawl Impressions if you don't believe me, or just watch the videos. Also, IKE DOES NOT HAVE A MARTH ALTERNATE COSTUME. That's Sigurd, folks. I know that both of these rebuttals have been brought up over and over again, but I still see way too many "Marth deconfirmed!" comments. Substantiate (and refute the rebuttals) or change your stance.

Ganondorf was a complete and total ripoff clone of Captain Crunch. Capt. Falcon was also one of the original SSB characters, and his moveset is entirely awesome in every way. If anything, change Ganondorf's moveset completely. Like, super overhaul...in the OoT style of fighting...

Also...Sheik rules all pants. Srsly. Make her a seperate character if need be. Just because she's not in TP doesn't detract from her importance as a fighter and an icon for the older Zelda games. Plus, that'll liably make some hardcore Sheik lovers riot in the streets.

*ahem*...in any case...If they drop Pichu, they must replace him with Lucario or Blaziken. Or maybe a second gen Pokemon like, I dunno....Typhlosion? Feraligator? Hitmontop? Scizor? Xatu? Any of those or more would work as replacements for Pichu...

I don't understand this. We have two reps for the second biggest Nintendo franchise and people are saying that that's more than enough.

Ridiculous. I could very much see them keeping Jigglypuff and Mewtwo and not adding anymore, but it's really ridiculous to think that both of those should be removed.

Captain Falcon - no debate, samurai goroh's an assist trophy, captain's in.
Mr. Game & Watch - original moveset, i'd say he's here for good.
Falco - seeing as they've already halfway made up a moveset for fox, i think it'd be difficult to do the same for falco, especially with even less of a start.
Dr. Mario - alternate costume, i hope. although dr. mario wiiware gives him hope.
Pichu - drop
Mewtwo - it has an original moveset... even if that moveset has a bit to be desired
Marth - i was on the fence until i saw the fire emblem ds, and ike's slow moveset. i'd say he's a shoe-in.
Roy - i don't think he has much of a chance at all.

Jigglypuff- Drop. I hate this pokemon and IMO its lost its popularity, but I'm kinda biased on this one since I hate the pkmn characters in smash.
Captain Falcon- Keep. Do I have to say more?
Mr. Game & Watch- Drop. He was a shocker back in SSBM. He should pass the torch of WTF character to someone else in brawl.
Falco- Keep. I guess we could keep in falco i really don't care either way.
Dr. Mario- Drop. Its Mario in a costume, thats really all.
Pichu-Drop. If I don't want jiggs back then theres no way I'd want him back.
Mewtwo-Keep. This is the only other poke besides PT and Pika. Enough pokes in already
Marth-Keep. First FE Lord, popular, remake coming to the DS.
Roy-Drop. I've been starting to like Roy a lot, too bad he has no chance whatsoever of coming back seeing how Ike is the power FE character.
