Anti-Jiggs Tech

Okay. Two specific techs are killing me in one of my more frequent Jigglypuff matchups.

First of all, my ledgeguard game goes out the window when I fsmash Jiggs off the stage because he just pound up recover/float above me, out of reach - and his horizontal aerial movement is too fast for me to catch him when he drops. The only thing I can think of that would even hit him is a dolphin slash, but I can't sweetspot that for my life. Is it necessary, or is there a better way to punish a Jigglypuff floating high above my reach?

Also, I'm having difficulty responding to Jiggs' shorthop->approach->fair->retreat->land. By the time the shieldstun is over, Jiggs is already out of grabbing range and his priority seems to beat out anything I throw at him. Additionally, if I try to retreat, fair turns into pound and I get caught in that.

Okay, I lied - one more tech. I can't find a way to drop from a platform without getting uair'ed a couple times because as soon as I miss my dair, I'm a sitting duck. Is there another way to protect my underside while I'm both on the platform with Jiggs below me and while I'm dropping?

Thanks a bunch, all.

1) If Jiggs doesn't die, she will always get back onto the stage. Whet you have to do is be patient and wait for Jiggs to come to you. Use an Utilt of Ftilt to keep her away.

2) If Jiggs is shorthopping, use an Ftilt. If you're shielding, WD backwards and proceed to Ftilt. Jumping out of your shield against Jiggs will most likely get you Wop'd.

3) Not much help I can give you here. I'd say don't always go for the attack. Make your way around to the other platforms until you can find an opening.

I'll just add that Dthrow to Fsmash ***** Jiggs even at lower %.

Don't forget you have an u-air if you are having trouble killing jiggly, shes light and your u-air will vertical kill her at high damage. frostbyte is right, if she doesn't die from the initial hit, shes coming back..so go for vertical kills.

As for you not being able to sweetspot, learn how! or learn how to edgetech and do it consistently.

Yes, as frost said once again, use the f-tilt and start wavedashing out of shield if you can. Your grab out proitizes everything, I've caught many attacks and the wop is one of them, if you consistently play defensive against the wop, your opponent will know its working on you and you're afraid.

Jumping to a platform and wavelanding will get you down fast and safely, especially if you guard yourself with a f-air as you land.

You can't edgeguard a good Jigglypuff so that's out.

This is one of the few match ups where I'd suggest using the F-tilt. Wait for her to hit your shield then WD to F-tilt. You might be able to WD towards her and dash to a jump canceled grab. Fthrow. WD. F-Smash. Dead Jiggs. If she DIs the F-throw towards you just use an up tilt. You'll sweet spot the Jiggs and she'll never DI towards you again.

For getting though the platform I found that SHFFLing a dair and then falling through with fair works quite well. Sometimes I just SHFFL the dair and then counter because the rang that the dair hits under the platform makes up for its lag. You could also just go off the side of the platform and guard yourself with a fair, but I like being complicated.

Side B> up tilt works well if you hit the Jiggs with the side b up close. If you were to far to link it to the up tilt you can still get a F-Smash or F-tilt. Use fairs to rack damage and space yourself to avoid getting shield grabbed. AND MAKE SURE YOU CROUCH CANCEL HER UP TILT.

I uh... never really use ftilt vs Jiggz these days, unless I'm just messing around...

Also, vs a good jiggz, you aren't going to want to do JC grabs, as they tend to crouch. The hitbox on Marth's running grab reaches all the way down to his foot, so you can grab those annoying crouch too low characters like Jiggles and Kirby.

Why would you crouch cancel her up tilt? You are Marth. Don't be that vulnerable in the first place. Spacing and stuff.

For getting down from platforms: Don't drop down. DD on top of it, then just run off one side. Waveland the ground away, or if they react quick enough, air dodge diagonally through them.

Fb is good vs Jiggs. At low percents you can combo fb to grab. Fthrow WD Fsmash will likely get you mid percent tippers.

Maybe other stuff later, I'm tired.

Oh I forgot. Vs WOP and SH aerial approach/retreats: WD out of shield into everything. Learn the shield stuns of every move and know the timings like it's your job. You can punish anything.

I'm saying if unfoutunate enough to land behind her or she wavedashes out of her shield or something.

I've never gotten a crouching Jigglypuff with a dashgrab. I said to use the Jump canceled grab because your trying to get her in the landing lag and the dash grab is to slow.

F-tilt is not for killing, it's for messing up the Jigglypuff's approach. It racks a little damage, but it's just for outrangeing her Fair which is her main approach and the only way she's putting any pressure on you because she has no projectiles.

If you SH to Fair then you will find Jigglypuff to be an easy opponent, except for the darn wall of pain.
