Well, I agree with the whole "Buff the rest instead of nerfing Diddy" stance, and at least he's pro-customs.

This article is very good, and I wish everyone would read it.

Unfortunately, Smash Bros. seems to have instilled this mentality of "Ban EVERYTHING" into every player's head, and no one will even consider the fact that something can be really good and healthy for developing a metagame.

I wouldn't really say that. I just think many are worried about some people's penchant for cheesing matches and want to avoid adding new tools that would easily allow that. There's still a lot of testing to do before EVO, and that includes judging if things like explodey balloons + countertriptree are really broken, or if we just need to learn how to get around it.

I also believe that's the ideal, but sadly that would require a LOT of heavy balancing and that's something we cannot expect in a Nintendo game anytime soon.

Pros of games that have regular balance changes - they eventually reach a better state of balance than any once-over ever does.

But hey, we've at least got bugfixes and some minor balance tweaks, so that's something to be grateful for. But it's pretty well known that bar a handful of exceptions, it's smarter to buff the weak than to nerf the strong if you want a healthy high-level metagame.
