Annoying Pikachu Play

last night, my noob friend beat me and many other people in our 4p brawls because he was using pikachu. he was doing the traditional thunder spamming (which is so much easier to use now!) and was otherwise sitting in the corner thunderjolting (or shocking? i keep forgetting).

when we got near, he would just down smash and then run away using a thunder in the air so we couldn't pursue him.

i was wondering if you pikachu folks had good strategies against this. i know i could use lucas, ness or g&w to absorb the energy attacks, but i want insightful responses about using ike and other non-projectile characters. other specific strategies are cool too though.

and as a divergence, take it upon yourself to not use this strategy. it's effective, but otherwise unintellectual. ho ho ho.

thanks!

i know this may seem obvious, but you can airdodge or roll through the thunder that he uses to keep you from getting to him after the dsmash. My brother plays ike and i used the dsmash -> thunder until he realized that he could roll or airdodge, but it might play out differently in a free for all.

just my 2 cents

I'm not sure if this answers your question but I hope it helps.

The great thing about Falco's reflector is that it can send Pikachu's Thunder right back at it. If you time it right, I'm sure he'll start thinking twice about spamming any more Thunders.

A big problem is that pikachu is much better in 4p brawls. But if you main Ike you shouldn't have as big a problem. One of Pikachu's weak spots is is lack of range. It's better for Pika in Brawl, but even his forward smash shouldn't be able to match up to Ike's sword. So focus on out-ranging him, know how far his down smash and forward smash extend, and stay just outside of that and smack him around.

Also, in my experience Pit is the anti-pika. Strong range attacks + 2 reflecting attacks + easily directed projectile = a very tough match for pikachu.
