if you look very closely at the platforms on Angel land (Nintendo world 2006 trailer) you can see that the ones Pikachu Kirby (and Snake?) destroyed had lots of cracks and were damaged, but the one on the right (the only one that didn't break) looked intact.

the theory: do these platforms take damage before begng destroyed?

also worhty of discusion: do they return? hos easy is it to break them?

I didn't notice, but they probably take damage and respawn after a few seconds, like the blocks in that Yoshi stage in Melee.

Samus's stage Brinstar has that moss stuff that holds the level together in melee and it respawns after awhile too.

The cracks and such could signify that the blocks are breakable IE they're breakable because they is teh decrepit.

Also, it looks as though you can walk on the clouds that take their place. So maybe you're not breaking the "platforms", you're breaking their edgegrabbability.

Or perhaps also their "transparency", as in perhaps you wont be able to go through the solid platforms by pressing down...

I noticed something in the trailer though. At 59 seconds in, you see Meta Knight gliding while Pit lands. When he lands, he makes two slashing motions, the first of which releases some pebbles and makes the left half of the platform shake a bit. You are most likely right in that they are damageable...
