Today, leading Swedish esports team Alliance annouced the acquisition of their second Super Smash Bros. Melee player, Andreas "Android" Lindgren. Android joins his brother Adam "Armada" Lindgren on the team, formalising their much vaunted, championship winning doubles partnership. They are now the second consistent doubles team to be on the same esports team after CLG picked up both Kevin "PewPewU" Toy and Zac "SFAT" Cordoni.

Android is not only a top doubles player, he is currently ranked in the top 10 in singles in Europe, making regular top 8 appearances at European majors and taking sets off top Europeans including Mustafa "Ice" Akcakaya

Catch the pair in action under the Alliance banner at The Big House 6 this weekend on VGBootCamp and read the full Alliance announcement here.

Akke played Melee as well, so wouldn't that make Android their 3rd Melee player, technically? Otherwise, how better to make a Super Smash Bros. team than with actual Smash Brothers?

Perks of having a top 2 melee player as your brother. Lets just hope this sponsorship isn't a flop. I have faith though that it won't and Alliance can help Android out a lot. We will see.

Android is soooo underrated in my opinion, I'm glad he got picked up by Alliance!
I absolutely agree. Android is without a doubt a Top 50 singles player with fantastic doubles natural synergy to boot (especially with hid elder brother Armada). Plus, he's won majors in doubles, which is no small feat no matter who you team with (Armada has only done that with 2 other players; Mew2King and Shroomed).

Great pick up by Alliance, and great to see the "family" esports team further embrace that awesome "heritage."

I am glad to see doubles be a reason for player pick ups. In my ways I prefer doubles to singles in just about every Smash game (although singles and doubles are very different beasts), and to see the experts of doubles get the respect they deserve warms my heart.

It would be great if this trend of doubles specialists, top European players, and internal Smash players all getting signed continued in Melee and hopefully Smash 4 as well.
