Smash Champion
This isn’t a support thread, rather my attempt to objectively look at the way Silent Hill could potentially work in Smash. Lets get started.
Why Silent Hill?
Many of you are probably aware that Silent Hill is one of gamings most iconic horror franchises ever, spawning enough media and attention to be considered one of horrors most well regarded. Ultimate is sorely lacking Horror representation, with some RE spirits and Fatal Frame assists being the only thing we have. Silent Hill is very capable of filling our sore gap.
Isn’t Smash Too Kiddy For Silent Hill?
This is an easy argument to make. However, it fortunately doesn’t hold much water. For one, Silent Hill has been made to work in a child friendly manner before. Like in Bomber Man R, See Here. Of course, Tons of Silent Hill would need to be redesigned in order to work in Smash. Considering the love Smash has given to numerous franchises before, Sakurai and the team could almost certainly conjure a way to make Silent Hill work. Lets speculate how the team may work this magic, shall we?
Fighter Potential
Silent Hill has many characters throughout its series. Heathwe Mason, Harry Mason, Or James Sunderland could potentially work if Smash was into a human character. However, I feel like I speak for most people when I say a monster would be better suited towards the fighter role, and this fighter would almost certainly be the Horror Icon known as Pyramid Head. See Here.
He’ll definitely need a mild redesign, mostly with removing blood. His overall appearance is still somewhat easy to implement. I’ll create a quick overview of how he could potentially work.
Height: Ganondorf
Weight: Super Heavyweight
Recovery: Decent, not great
Standard moves: Slow and Sluggish moves utilizing his Great Knife and Spear.
Gimmick: Special moves can apply various debuffs to fighters. Such as Weight, Speed, and Frame Data.
Alts: Standard SH2 design, White Hunter Variant, Modern redesign.
This would be enough to make him stand out well throughout the roster.
Stage Potential
Similar to its characters, Silent Hills locations vary plenty between games, some more well known than others. Midwich, Silent Hill 4s “the room”, Lakeside Amusement Park, even PHs first boss fight in Blue Creek apartments could work. It really comes down to preference. The layout and Hazards the stage could bring is rivaled by not many series.
Music Potential
There are plenty of potential tracks to take from the game, though many would need a remix for battle. The main shoein would have to be Betrayal, Pyramid Heads theme. Silent Heaven and White Noiz remixes could give Smash an even more iconic soundtrack.
Spirits And Mii Costumes
As was mentioned, Silent Hill has tons of characters to draw from, not just humans either. Valtiel, The Butcher, and others could make for an interesting spirit board and mii costumes.
Conclusion
While not likely or very requested, I believe Silent Hill would make for an interesting, fun, iconic, and out there inclusion. I hope to have gotten some of you thinking.
