Alright, so this will get back to reviews, but I have one serious question. Recently I got into Maplestory, and played it for one week straight with a friend. I am now a lv43 Dual Blade Acolyte, and I'm starting to question if this is worth playing or not.

Pros:

The Game looks fun and cool, I love the chibi graphics.
The Donations do not completely separate the classes like some games.
You can play alone.

Cons:

No pvp
Nothing real to do at 200.
The Community has a lot of immature people
Finding people that are acceptable is like finding the hay in the needlestack.
Making money seems to be the only 200 thing to do.
You have to donate for xp scrolls and what not, so it's secretly not free.

I really just want some thoughts. I played FFXI for 4 years nearly, and got really good at it. I want an mmo that isn't a huge time sink, but is fun and will last me. I'm halfway into this one, and I want some opinions (or games requests)

You're probably gonna find immature people wherever you go, hehe
my personal favorite mmo is guild wars
it has no subscription fee and the game is only just beginning when u reach max level, will deffo last u, although perhaps too much of a time sink depending on your judgment
viewed by many to be pvp oriented, but has excellent pve
etc

i've played MS in the past, it's so changed now; all these new classes n stuff, so wack xD

I used to play it a lot way back. I wouldn't ever do it again, but at least I left on good terms with it. To me it always felt like a time sink that you weren't supposed to put too much time into, I dunno.
It's really up to you, so pretty much what Laem said.

MapleStory is like a invisible burning wallet-- you won't notice where your money has gone :\ a friend of mine played the game even LONGER than you have. He ended up spending 70% of the money he makes on the game. He doesn't even notice he paid for the game. If you really want an ms-similar game try Wonderking :). It has pvp, good pve, and a balanced class system if I remember correctly. The game is more free than ms is a fact. Your pros aren't very good. People of the new age forget that it's the gameplay that matters not the graphics.

Why does he spend that much? I understand donations are cool, and NX is worth a lot of Mesoes but seriously, I wouldn't waste that money on a game. I may donate 100 dollars in a year tops, if that lolz.

I think I might like it if I play more casually, like not 24/7 like I was.

He really likes the game. He didn't start to pay until he was at a really high lvl and couldn't really grind. The game really just forces you to pay eventually. And if you pay, you get called an NX noob, and if you don't pay, you won't get far. My friend eventually quit after a year of hardcore play :\

The xp/lvl gets ridiculous high but I've read multiple accounts of people doing it w/o NX. Also, once you get one lv200 you never have to buy again if you wanted stuff, leech xp for money > buy NX > profit. I like -that- concept.

Not defending the game really, just saying, I'm a very, very patient man. I played FFXI, which was terrible (and had beastmaster 75...)

Bro. The only thing that sucks about Maple is expences.

It's the funest MMO I've ever played. Hands down. I quit at a lvl 51 dexless assassin, which was a while ago. And if you're playing with friends, doing PQ's is the funnest thing to do. Try out Ludi PQ. It's the funnest part of that game imo.

But the down side? Since I was dexless, I couldn't wear normal thief stuff. I was forced to wear a sauna robe, and I was forced to scroll it like crazy, which cost a lot of NX at the Gachapon. And I was forced to use a fan, and to scroll that like crazy. So how did I do that at such a low level? Luckily I had a well funded friend who gave me the money. But it's hard and long as f*** to independently earn money in that game.

Even though you have to pay, imo the best game is World of Wacraft. But like, thats only if you pay.
And I agree with everyone above, Maplestory makes you start paying at one point in the game. Take myself for example.

I played it for about 3 years on and off, and once NX came to canada, I was like " Okay, try it out. Why not? ".

That turned into me paying for a Zakum helm, at level 50. I bought well over 600 dollars worth of NX on gacha, just to get stuff I could try to sell for a couple mill.
