This is the first time I've ever wrote about anything involving my actual life, but what happened to me today was just so ironic that I just had to share it.
This summer I decided to take Driver's Ed./Health, seeing how by this October I'll be sixteen, making me old enough to drive. In the class, we had just finished up the Driver’s Ed. Section the previous week. So this week we did the Health section. During Driver’s Ed., the class was split into nine groups of four and everyone was assigned a different health subject. So the group I was in, which consisted of me, some guy who I didn’t’ know, and my friends Ricky and Kendal. We met at the library, working on our presentation several times that week. And today was the day that we gave our presentation, after waiting for a week I was glad to see that all of our work paid off.
Now here’s the interesting part, half-way through the presentation I noticed that my vision started to blur. So I blinked a few times to clear it, no big deal. Then it got blurry again, and this time blinking didn’t help. A light ringing echoed in my ears, so I closed my eye in an attempt to clear everything, but when I opened them I was sitting on the group and felt like I had just taken a brief catnap. Kendal was shaking me, with the most concern I’ve ever seen in her face. I walked out of the classroom with her and was asked so many questions so quickly that I felt like was a being interrogated. So I replied by asking a question of my own, “What happened?”
“You passed out.”
And now here comes the ironic part, our presentation was on First Aid.
From there, our teacher asked Kendal to return to class and took me up to the front office where I was asked questions which were all common causes of passing out, things like “do you drink energy drinks” or “did you eat breakfast.” I was clear for all of them, but then it hit me. I was dehydrated. I quickly said this, and was nearly-instantly given a bottle of water. My parents were called and I got sent home, but not before chugging down three more bottles. And as expected, my good-natured parents just had one big laugh about it (along with me) once they saw I was fine. My father has always told me that I don’t drink enough water, and he was freaking right.
So, let’s sum up what I’ve done in my sophomore year so far: I went to Alaska, made two new friends, learned to drive a car, and passed out. Something tells me that this year is going to be… Interesting.
