I was playing around with Olimar trying to do that desynch stuff that Fino found. It's nothing really big, but it these tricks should help you stay alive if/when you ever have no pikmin. blah blah blah. The video will speak for itself. Sorry bout the quality...And I didn't feel like taking the time to edit and make the vid cleaner. :O

Olimar's metagame is going no where and he's going to continue to go no where unless someone can figure out how to forcibly desync his pikmin and creating disjointed smashes similar to Squirtle's hydroplaning. This is a good (?) video, but it's really common knowledge and ineffective against anyone relatively intelligent. Running off the edge and plucking is okay, but who's going to let you back on the ledge? Even with intelligent play, one or two pikmin spell death because Whistle is an epic failure.

Is it just me, or does it seem as though Olimar's attacks come out faster right after he plucks a Pikmin?

>_>

I wasn't expecting much. Just something to think about I guess. No need to be hostile.

Edit: meh, you weren't being hostile. You're just stating the truth, as depressing as it sounds...and is. :/

I can think of some useful places to use this. Idk, imagine these situations:

1.) you're throwing pikmin. Your opponent has decided to try and kill the pikmin instead of approach you. you run in for the grab to punish his lag like you're supposed to. You grab, he spotdodges and grabs you. he dthrows and it sends you up into the air. You find a seemingly open opening in his defense while he comes up to attack you. you decide to fair. He attacks you as you fair! His attack comes out just as fast and kills the pikmin. (it was a red) You have no pikmin! You fall to the ground in a frenzy and tech the ground. he's running at you. You know he's going to jump over any pluck canceled fsmash. His dair beats out your upsmash. What do you do? You could stand there and pluck some pikmin, but to what use? He's about to attack you. Instead, you pluck cancel into an upair ftw. lols

2.) this allows you to use aerial attacks off of platforms...even when you're got no pikmin! It's epic mindgames.

3.) You've got no pikmin after hitting your opponent off the stage for some odd reason. You don't have time to pluck. You edge pluck cancel into a fair or dair. Is that not cool?

I'll be on aim in a second.

Example one sounds like my match against Ganondrof.

Didn't see this when I posted in the other thread. Not what i discovered(?). Everything Excellence said is right. But at least we are trying. I think we are grasping at straws though. Support the ban on MK. That would help everyone's metagame supposedly.

I'll make a post including some of my findings this weekend. Nothing big, but still interesting.

I actually REALLY like your find danGR
This is brilliant stuff.
Not just for mindgames, but for olimar strategy in general. I plan on using this as soon as I can practice :)
(this is just TOO good :))

I'm so glad we're actually getting places now. I've actually been working on new stuff to see what I can come up with. :D

speaking of that them there de-sync. It happened to me yesterday and my purple u-smash the **** out of marth when he was the full distance of FD away

I am working on this right now, But I think I found a good time to be able to use this. I need to practice it first though, i no longer have a wii so can't just practice now and post results. I'll get back when i can try out my theory.
