Amiibos look meh

Worse quality which I guess was expected, they did say the nice ones weren't final. That yellow stick is ugly as hell too...

I'll still get Mario and DK as they look ok, but some look baaaaad. Peach looks alright.

Not going to try to collect every single one anymore, my wallet thanks Nintendo. I was only going to get them to display, don't really care about the Figure Character feature.

I'm guessing nintendo is afraid kids will attempt to poke each other's eyes out or something. That's the only reason I can think of as to why the swords aren't just molded from a more solid material. I mean, nintendo has always been stupidly parental about their stuff, just look at how difficult (if even possible at all) it is to communicate in any way in online nintendo games.


I'm glad they're this bad though. I was planning on just snapping the figures off their bases for easy packing (all the amiibo stuff is in the base anyway) and buying extras to put on display. But now I get to save some cash, and I won't even have to feel bad about 'breaking' the figures.

Kirby, WFT, DK, Mario, and Pikachu still look good, at least in the pictures I saw. Marth and Link are just atrocious though, and Peach and Yoshi are pretty blah. As long as Ness and Dedede look good I'll be happy since they are the only ones I really wanted

I used to collect Warhammer miniatures, so I might just end up re-painting them myself. The colors are way too flat as they are right now, I'd love to give them some slightly better shading.

And I honestly think the painting is the only real issue here, I bet we're going to see some jaw-dropping custom-painted Amiibos not very after they're for sale.

Either way, it might be just the pictures, they could very well look good enough IRL, a lot of things look like **** when the picture's not very well taken.

Mario and Peach look like their previews. It's just a lighting effect that makes it "look better." With the right tools, you can make your Mario & Peach look like the preview.

On top of the lighting, the photos look blurry. I'm no photographer but it looks like the focus was wonky during their shots, so it's not looking crisp.
That said, I can only see Marth after Peach and Mario, and his sword looks just awful. But I guess these are not much more than mass produced children's toys rather than collector's items, really.

i didnt even think the previews looked that great either. theyre just cheap money-grabbers that people with collectors-mentality will grab regardless of what theyre for.
The whole amiibo "growing" thing seemed kinda dumb to me too lol. This is Smash Brothers, not Nintenmon -- GOTTA COLLECT THEM ALL!!

Dont ever intend to buy any. Unless they release some reaalllllly nicely detailed ones of my fav characters, i wont ever buy them. And if i did they would be a figurine on a shelf, hence the high detail wish lol

I don't think the amiibo's look bad. Marth's sword looks a bit like it's made from cheap plastic, but that's about the only complainment I have.

I wish they didnt go with the default pictures of all the characters as the pose they are in. It really ruins some of the figures like Link, Fox, etc.

That dumb thing holding them up is going to bother me so much, ill probably end up not getting any of the ones like that.

I never really expected them to look insanely top quality since it's a 15$ figure they have to mass produce.

It's not cost effective to give us a fully painted and detailed figure with a lot of game functionality, but it's a steal for that price considering it comes premade as well.

Knowing me though I'll end up messing with the model a little bit.

I have so many thoughts on this and I can't think of a way to segway any of them into each other.

I couldn't care less about what they look like. Their main purpose is still the in-game buddy right?

Why did people think that they would look as good as their original models? Of course something mass produced is going to look a little worse than a hand-built version.

I think it would've been better, easier to do, and more positively received if instead of trying and ultimately failing to make them realistic replicas of the in game models, they were heavily stylized.

I for one can't wait to pay for my 15$ Happy Meal toys.

Oh they changed the things hold him up as well. Though why blue? Why not clear or something less noticeable?

Hey that Fox doesn't look half bad though, and luckily the voice is not included. (it's not quite as bad as people make it out to be but then, I'm more a fan of Falco.)

I just want to see the Ganon amiibo as it's one of the few I'd get. Maybe Duck hunt, would be fun to showcase my old zapper light gun next to it, if I can still find it

I know right. Also the green scouter would be pretty cool if it were clear green acrylic glass instead of some green marshmallow looking thing. If his eyes behind his scouter is still there, I may consider in modifying it a little along with the stupid blue stand and sculpting my own.

Back to my scale modeling hobby that I hope to someday get back into. Lol
