As many of the frequent visitors to these boards know, Nintendo is priming themselves for a big 2007 with many new releases. Considering Nintendo's behavior in the past (fans expecting delays) against the promise that brawl will come out in Japan in 2007, what kind of reaction would American fans have to not recieving brawl in the same year?

I would think that it would come as a very big displeasure and almost a let-down for fans in America to not get brawl at least shortly after a 2007 Japan release. I would hope that Nintendo realizes this and comes through, perhaps breaking the association of drawn out and constantly delayed titles.

Thoughts.

I don't believe we will get it at the same time that Japan does because of the fact it's online. Look at Pokemon Battle Revolution.

Pokemon Battle Revolution was delayed because Pokemon Diamond/Pearl was delayed.

It's kind of silly to release a game that you can upload your Pokemon to, when you don't actually HAVE said Pokemon, isn't it?

Good point, however my point in posting was purely to show that the release of brawl is a huge one for nintendo, and by this logic I would assume that it would be in thier best interest to not delay it, release it not only in Japan but worldwide to bolster sales.

I think they'll delay it all-around if it's necessary. I doubt they'd want to rush since Sakurai is going to stop working on SSB after this.

Melee was released in Japan 1st, about 2-3 weeks later Melee came out in America, i believe if it was to have a delay from the Japan release to the American release they might follow this

Let's assume that brawl will come out late(lateQ3/Q4) 07 in japan, I would assume that brawl would be out in America sometime later, say Q4 or two weeks after Japan's release, but as european I know it will be late, brobably delayed that they could edit the PAL version of the game so europe gets melee somewhere 2008, somewhere between Q1/Q2 or worstcasescenario christmas 08 ...
(why no one notice Europeans? *cries*)

As BarBino said, Melee was released in November 21st in Japan and the December 3rd in the US. The game was translated simultaneously during development, which is what they are doing this time too. So a December release for Brawl in the US isn't that farfetched.

Hoever, because european languages weren't included, that took almost 5 months, and Melee was released in May 24th here. I think we are going to get a huge delay for translations again, but I expect it to be shorter... After 6 years Nintendo should've accustomed to translating and publishing, especially with blockbusters.

I think it was also because Melee was a launch title for the Gamecube in Europe and releasing it before the console would of been silly.

I expect it to be worldwide by at least around christmas time (assuming this 2007 thing holds up). As an english man I do hope that its not to long after US and JP, but we can only hope.

Visiting from above.
If the game is close enough to completion to release it in Q1 of 2008, then it is close enough to completion to be worked OVERTIME on to get it out during the VERY crucial holiday season in America.

If it is released in Japan this year, it will also be released in America, end of story. Nintendo is absolutely not going to miss the holiday season if it is that close to completion.
