No, don't worry its not just you. Space animals are fast, they can afford to make mistakes whereas a Marth player must be flawless. Space animals are combated by a combination of chainthrows, utilts and really, really gimpy playing/kills. If your having trouble, don't hesitate to be gay ;D.

Marth is one of the hardest characters to use at high levels of play. Much more so than any other high or top tier characters.

I'm with UMBC. Fox and Falco's are easy to fight, Peach is a little harder and more annoyuing, and fighting sheik just plain sucks.

Fox is one of my favorite opponents as Marth. It's gay combos against vertical killers and the shine. Fun stuff.
Falco is a pretty tough fight until a combo or a chain grab gets going.
I have my days where I can just combo the hell out of peach. Other days, I find myself really annoyed and frustrated against peach.
Sheik just isn't even fair.

Against Fox

Get a grab, ***** them to a platform and tipper, or if on FD, chainthrow, utilt, regrab etc etc and finish with fsmash. Getting a grab can be tricky, but it's possible..
DI uthrows away and then smash DI to the other direction and they can't uthrow-uair you.
I'd say wait for them to go aerial and then attack, but do what suits you the best.
Also, get them off the edge asap and ***** them.

Against Falco

Same thing about getting a grab, it's really important against Falco. And really hard as well. But just get it somehow. <_< Try to get Falco off the edge asap, then ***** his recovery. Also you can counter Falco's lasers if he comes SHL-ing towards you, and then tech-chase. Also try to hit Falco out of his SHL, that's where he's the most vulnerable. DI shine away to avoid being comboes, blahblahblah. That's pretty much the basics, rest is mindgames.

Some good fox' will hit you with uthrow-uair no matter where u DI..
I personally like fighting Falco, and peach. I find them way easier to fight against than fox
and sheik.
C.falcon sometimes gives me trouble also.

Its not that easy though. Otherwise pros would never die from the uair, and they die from the uair all the time.

If you DI Fox's UThrow one way, and DI the flipkick the other way, it ensures that you only get hit by one Uair as opposed to multiple. You're guaranteed to get hit once if the Fox is any good.

I'm pretty sure if you want to completely avoid fox's Uair via smash DI, you'd have to do some funky c-stick ASDI stuff as well as normal smash DI. I don't really know the specifics, i'm just saying it's harder than only smash DI.

I'm pretty sure I've seen and performed SDI out of fox's uair before. You have to get hit by the first (weak) hit of the uair. If you SDI that hit, the second (strong) hit of the uair will miss.

I don't think there's really a way to completely avoid the uair after the uthrow if the fox doesn't mess up since you can't SDI throws.

I'm pretty sure you can't avoid the first uair, but like everyone else says, you can avoid the second by DI/Smash DI
