Seriously. Enemies take about 30% a piece and your survival is more at the camera's mercy than anything else. And there's no difficulty adjustment of any kind. The non-playable enemies are too tough and the actual CPU players are stupidly easy when it comes time to actually fight. The worse part is that all the enemies spawn at once and dog pile you.

Anyone else having this trouble?

Yeahh, it can get pretty tricky. I'll get KO'd in the actual run most of the time, then just win the final battle.

My biggest gripe is with that Clubberskull thing - it's nuts, I have no answer to it.

You'll get used to it over time. It's just like Subspace in that regard. Just like the larger bosses (Hands, Core, Duon, Tabuu, etc), things get pretty pantomimed in Smash Run. On top of that, non-boss enemies are susceptible to lots of hitstun, so just combo them until they die.

I don't really have too much of an issue with killing enemies. I can't really place my finger on why that is, though. Maybe try to not rush in recklessly and pay attention to when enemies are going to attack?

Now that I think about it, it's like playing Castlevania. If you recognize the enemy and know how it will fight, then it's a matter of reflexively attacking its blindspots. Smash Run is a bit trickier since you fight swarms of things on a regular basis, but it's the same principle.

It does get pretty hectic at times, especially when you are trying to focus on one of the larger enemies or collecting a certain item and they all rush into you from every direction.... But then when it comes to the actual final battle then it's more or less pretty well.....

It kinda reminds me of the SSE.... too bad you can't set up the difficulty though....

Unless I'm using a speedy character like Zero Suit Samus I always end up feeling like I'm carrying around a sack of potatoes in smash run. I feel like if you get a bad start in Smash Run it's hard to recover, since you really need those boosts to get even more boosts quicker.

I don't play it that often. It beggers belief why it isn't online, players don't even show up on each others maps.

Trophy Smash seems similarly sluggish to me, I think some characters are definitely better at it than others.

I would recommend trying to kill the stronger enemies. Just go and try to find event doors and depending on the event spam items. Also take full advantage of the random events that pop up.

I think the enemies I have the hardest time with are the Wisp from the Kirby series, Darknut, and the fake treasure chest. I took over 400% as Duck Hunt because the latter two enemies pinned me in a corner. Next hit I took basically teleported me off the screen :p

The only thing I don't like about the final battle is... When it's a team battle. You have to severely overplay if the CPU you're stuck with is bad, and that was just what happened when it was me and Diddy against Sheik and Ike. Diddy handed them a victory on a silver platter. :/

Did you try equipping items and custom moves? That helps a lot.

The inability to alter the difficulty level is a downer, as sometimes the CPU players can be a pain to beat, depending on the final event.

I actually got a run event against Sonic. I still won because he ran into some death spikes and I hit him any time he tried to pass me.

The Run! event is a mixed bag, since depending on your fighter, if you don't get enough speed boosting power-ups, you're almost bound to lose, even if you don't hit any danger zones.

Yeah, I agree, Smash Run is pretty difficult sometimes. Especially with that one enemy which can literally kill you instantly... What are they called again? Ornes? Yeah, as soon as I hear the music, I'm all like "nope" and just quit out of Smash Run. I don't even want to deal with that enemy!

Those Reapers can be annoying too. I actually killed one before, but only because a Koffing was right there and attacked me whenever I was hit by the Reaper. The gas stopped me from being knocked off the screen, interestingly.

Yeah one time I lucked out though with Ness as a very speedy Mario chased after me, no matter how much he got hit by the danger zones, he kept being able to catch up with me, a little bit more and I would have lost. It really depends on the character you use and how many speed boosts you've aquired for the Run event. (And how much you attempt to slow them down)

The Run! event actually isn't that bad for me. Although I've only gotten it twice so far, I won both times. My speed stats are usually pretty high since I often find myself trying to escape from the tougher enemies... :p

You have to equip the powers. Health Recovery in particular helps a lot to survive things.

Still, I don't find it to be a very engaging game mode. Just like I thought it would be, the whole preliminary match amounts to nothing more than mindlessly fighting through enemies. Apparently, there's a way for your opponents to attack you (a weird targeting marker appears sometimes) but it's not fun the way City Trail from Kirby Air Ride made that aspect of the game fun.

If they introduce this mode again in a later Smash game, I'd really like to be able to fight against and screw with my opponents on the preliminary map.

I fit in the group of people who will play Smash Run a few times and be reminded that it exists due to it being on the main menu. 5 minutes, multiple sessions, is not enough time to see everything it has to offer, It's actually pretty fun. The very large boss enemies are fun. You need to defeat them as you would in the games they came from. I would actually go to this mode more if it were online and the end match was meatier. Playing against CPU's doesn't interest me in the least. I'm only playing it for rewards. It's a shame such work gets put into this mode and I'm gonna ignore it eventually.

I use some custom abilities that I unlocked to help me out. For instance, there is this spinning blades ability that costs 12 points to equip. It takes out the larger enemies pretty easily, but can only be used three times. The healing abilities help too.

I've gotten through by equipping all the strongest attack equipment possible. You can kill things pretty easily that way, which means more boosts and custom equipment.

Smash Run is what Subspace should have been - a platformer integrated into multiplayer fighting. I gotta get some friends with 3DS to play it. It's so fun even with the computers. It is a little challenging at times and I don't usually end up with as much of the stats boosts my opponents have but it's fun to mess around with.

This. Especially if your "story" is basically "Green Alien Man wants to play with big purple balls".

Yeah It can get pretty chaotic at times especially when hordes of enemies show up while fighting a boss.
