I'm not just talking about street dates here, but also I think there is a chance that someone may get their copy early that is if they had ordered the game online.
It's highly unlikely a online retailer will ship the game early. Most street dates are broken by small mom and pop stores

It reflects more on the retailer than it does on the buyer. Actually, it doesn't really reflect especially poorly on the buyer at all unless they then decide to leak everything to the public, rather than just enjoy the game themselves. I wouldn't go out of my way to blame someone for wanting to satisfy their own personal hype a little earlier than expected.
Retailers should be sticking to the dates as well. It's more a personal issue with the buyer. Some buyers care, others do not.

It doesnt refelct anything on the buyer. If the buyer has a chance to get a game early what the hell difference does it make. The same money the buyer was going to spend 3 days from now is the same money he or she spent the day they got the game early.

How in the world does a gamer who is presented with the chance to get a game he or she has been waiting for months/years early has to do with respecting the devleoper or not. That just makes no damn sense.

Principle of the matter. Respecting the street dates. I've seen games on the shelf a day or two earlier then they should have been, and I asked the guy at the desk "why is that game on sale now early?" I got an excuse for an answer.

If people don't want to stick tot he dates then why even have dates in the first place?

A "Street date" is just the date where everyone should have access to pick it up. That doesn't nesscairly mean it's the first date you will have access to it. What about tcg players who access pre release tournaments? What about people who go to pre screenings of movies? Do all of these people also have no respect for the people responible on making these products??

All that is organised by the company who made the movie/game/whatever. Their product, they can flash it around whenever the damn hell they like. We retailers and customers shouldn't be doing that. But no law saying we can't.
