alright... so i guess we're officially a noncompetitve community now then seeing as how we cant handle it. its this kind of thinking that leads down the path to a casual gamer. if thats the direction we want to go, thats fine. imo, brawl ruined everything... i mean everything was fine until it came out... cuz right now, the influx of new people just isnt doing it... w/e, ill just smash on a weekly instead of a daily basis now...

although, in one sense the ak smash group is already noncompetitive by the fact that it can almost never compete outside of itself.

be realistic about what you are as a smasher in alaska. if you're not even moving out anytime soon, the only competition you're going to have in your whole smash career is just with other people in the group. you might get to play outside of ak if you ever travel, but that's obviously not gonna happen very many times. if you're not moving out, the only thing you can expect to get from playing smash is just the fun you have playing it with the group.

don't try to imitate an extensive/serious/competitive community and pretend you don't live over a thousand miles from everyone else. trying to set up rules and regulations and all that nonsense as if everyone didn't know each other well would just be silly. smash is fun, and you shouldn't stop trying to improve, but keep it real

Yeah.. this past Saturday night is DEFINITELY old.

I hardly think people are "fanclubbing" by saying it's pretty f'ed up to tell a girl who already has major body issues to "stop eating".

I notice a lot of people are speaking of quitting. I am still down to play smash. One thing that I will not tolerate, however, is people being openly disrespectful. (I'm not talking about the silly jokes we all make to each other; I'm talking about there is a definite line that cannot be crossed and there comes a point when it goes too far.) This isn't about personal drama; it's about wanting to surround myself with people who give positive energy rather than making negative, toxic comments. Your friends should be people you feel comfortable around, not people who make you feel bad about yourself.

I'm not going to ban anyone from entering the Senshi-Con tournament because that would be silly, but this is a fair warning to whomever it may concern that I will not tolerate rude and insulting comments to me or my staff. One warning at most and that person is DQed, and kicked from the gaming area if it gets too bad. It doesn't make someone a "pansy" to treat others at the very least like human beings.

MY TOURNEYPLAY 4 WEEKEND =D

DAY 1: BRAWL

Yesterday, I got to play a ****load of Brawl friendlies to warm up for Brawl singles later in the day. Had some obvious trouble with ZSS players i.e. Saiga and Warp. Focused alot on facing various MK players and learning the MK/Peach matchup better.

I see M2K playing a match against Jem and I go to maybe get next match. Once the match is over though, DEHF comes over and things turn into a teams match. So I'm with Jem vs M2K/DEHF. How. Lucky. Am. I. The match actually didn't go too bad. As soon as they killed off Jem, I somehow found a way to take a stock off of both of them before getting spiked by DEHF. After that match, Nerd took my spot on Jem's team.

Playing in the tournament, my first game was against a player LFL. I played fairly well most of the first match Peach vs Marth with a 2 stock lead but somehow I lost focus and eventually lost the match as well. Second match wasn't as close. Yay, losers bracket... T______T

Second game was against Toobusytocare, a Washington ICs main. I played this guy alot the last time I was at GCs so I thought that I could pull it off as long as I stay focused. I pulled off a close win in the first match against those ICs. Second match, he counterpicks G&W on Frigate Orpheon. Wtf, G&W? Frigate? The next two matches were full of utter frustration and RAAAAAAAGE. He alternated between spamming Bairs and Nairs until finishing the stock with an uSmash. Though it was close, I lost that second match. I was so flustered that I didn't even know what stage to counterpick. Got 3stocked on Smashville, FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

That was my lowest point of the entire weekend; going 0-2 in the game I was better at. However, there was a light of inspiration not long thereafter. It was just what I needed to break through those thick clouds of disappointment. I found myself face to face with the root of my inspiration, the guy behind the manifestation of myself reborn as a Peach main. The one and only, Praxis.

This guy was pretty cool IRL and was willing to give me some tips on how to make my Peach better. We started by going at it in a Peach ditto. I don't remember much about what happened in this match but all I know is that I ended up 2stocking him. o_O Then I got to play against his MK and I barely won that match too. When I started CGing his MK, he said "Heh, I invented that" LOL

But after these few matches, he started 3stocking me, which is more of what expected. We got to play a good number of friendlies where I got to ask him about his take on a few aspects of Peach's gameplay i.e. ways of approaching, turnips, why this will work and other things won't, BUFFERING. He gave me a few techniques that I could work on that could be handy in the future. It was pretty cool getting to work with him.

I'm walking around and I spot M2K in the corner playing against someone. There's an open spot on the Wii so I take it. Soon enough, I find myself face to face with a nightmare. Even in Brawl, he looks fast. Most of the time where I'd go to hit him, he hits me first. Once I'm off the stage, I don't come back. It's gonna be interesting the next time I fight a MK up here. In one match I got 3 peachbombs and a stock off the guy. =D

Oh, and I got to MM Zeionut, lost miserably lol Snake.

DAY 2: MELEE

So today I had to play Meta in Melee singles...
You know, the guy who's hosting the Vancouver tournament...
Apparently, I don't know how to play against Jiggly-****...

And M2K is actually a pretty cool guy but he's terrifying to play against in Melee. He makes your character look like it's playing in slowmo. Same goes for Silent Wolf. His Shiek is amazing at edgeguarding BAIRBAIRBAIRBAIRBAIRBAIR although I managed to get 2 stocks off of it cause he screwed up a suicide kill lololol. Marth dittos were amusing, he almost JV5stocked me. To me, seeing him play on YouTube is way different than playing against him in real life.

And speaking of Silent Wolf, I got to play against his Kirby. He didn't know the Peach matchup so I got away with taking 2 stocks off the guy. His Fox was beast.

Jordan (TheCatPhysician) and I teamed in Melee doubles as "We Can See Saiga's House From Our Back Yard". First match was against Eggz and Isai aka "Count Sexula ****** ****er" LOL. Both matches, I got stuck playing against both of them at the end. Peach lol

Second match was against Vish and Toph "Oil For Life". I think GBC has a video of both matches.

As for my second game in Melee singles, I played against a guy Grunt. Plays Falcon. Did okayish the first match but almost getting him to his last stock wasn't enough. The second match I thought my Fox could do better. Got 3stocked cause he knew the matchup and his character better. Yeah, should've stayed Peach. Turns out that guy didn't have anything BUT Peach's all tournament. He had to fight Charlie, Bladewise, Dr.Mario12, me and banana, LOL

Overall, the weekend was a good one. Had fun with friendlies against various players from all over with many different playstyles. Saw one guy ragequit from the Melee station, left his iPod on his seat, could've easily picked it for profit but gave it back. Isai vs SuperBoom in 64 was too good. ****'s Burgers is too good. Sexual advances on GC Guy is too good. Basketball-sized Stitchface is too good. THIS WEEKEND was too good. I you, WA Smash.
