I believe Lucas comes out in June or July if Im not mistaken. It had me wondering what will Sakurai and his team work on until the voting poles for the next characters are done all the way in October? I honestly was hoping that perhaps new stages would come at some point and I sorta doubt any major character balancing patches will happen at this point so what is left for the team to produce till then?

Considering that the poll opened up after the last Direct, I'm guessing he'll be taking the results at that point into consideration. That, and Balance Patches.

There's also been word of new DLC modes, so there's that too.

New DLC modes? That sounds interesting. One online mode that would be cool in my opinion is a "1v1 for fun", or "for glory 1v1 with the option to play the non flat versions of stages". Anyway thanks for the info.

I imagine that Roy is next after Lucas, if the leaked victory themes are anything to go by. Ryu might be an E3 reveal, as well; since he's in the same leak.

Outside of that, probably King K.Rool (who's likely going to be the ballot winner by a landslide) and some other characters that Sakurai decides on; either cut veterans like Wolf or newcomers. Some of those newcomers might be characters who were scrapped in development, like Ridley or Takamaru; but I doubt third-parties are Sakurai's biggest priority with Smash DLC, and some newcomers are teetering on the line of their chances being blown.

Rake in the money

Probably what the others said in counting character ballots or (if the rumor is believed) implement Roy and/or Ryu over the summer and fall. Also maybe a balance patch if content gets stale to change up the fighters (doubt it but still)

Yeah personally as far as characters go im hoping we get new combatants, with new moves. To me It's more exciting/fun to try new things, but no offense to mewtoo or lucas (or dark pit, or lucina, or dr mario, ect). To go off of what you said DastardlyRideley I actually think Ryu would bring something interesting to the game though I doubt he's in. I especially doubt Roy is in because there would be essentially 3 characters in the game who are practically identical. Seems like a waste

And I also agree with you MarioFire, judging by the last balancing patch I sorta doubt Sakurai will really do many of these patches because the last one wasnt that impactful for most character. I think its clear Sakurai is fairly at peace with the balancing for the most part. At most he may release small balancing every character DLC.

But overall it sounds to me everyone feels that within the 2-3 months after Lucas is released Sakurai and his team will be working on Ryu/Roy and counting the ballots. It just seems strange to me that it would take him that long to count ballots even if they are from the entire world! I mean his entire team can't come in to work everyday and count ballots from 9am -5pm for 3 months can they? And will they be working on and revealing character's people did not vote for after releasing a voting pole at this point? Sorta why I doubt the whole Ryu/Roy thing aswell.

Hopefully he spends some time off. He's deserved it.
For more DLC, I think we're good with DLC characters and I would like some more stages to be honest.

Sakurai would obviously have to consider taking a break from all the hard work that he did making the games. Of course, you do still have to wonder what the remaining DLC characters are going to be.

Wolf would be a good inclusion, but I am kind of wondering if Splatoon will be recognized even further than just outfits and headgear for the Miis. Perhaps a playable Inkling?

To be fair, one could argue that Roy wasn't in a game yet but was put in melee, but the inkling hasn't even had its own series start, so it is only fair they are included as gear. Roy was already part of a franchise that was a fairly big part of Nintendo. Also I just want all the veterans back, no reason to cut out people's favorite characters.

Agreed. People are demanding more game fixes, addons, characters, and etc. on smash bros from Sakurai. again from a few posts, he is pushing his health aside just to make the fans happy. More fans need to realize Sakuri's health and give him a break, and a chance to heal.

You mean Mewtwo right? A character with terrible design, no custom moves, and hitboxes that are absolute garbage?
His design isn't terrible, but it's not the best either. His hitboxes are similar to melee and Project M, but again, not garbage, but not amazing, The fact that he has no custom moves is crap right there. It isn't really a character without custom moves. but another look, mewtwo is ok for a dlc character, but he's good for begining players.

Still, the lack of custom special moves is a bad omen for the other DLC characters. Likewise, Palutena's Guidance for Mewtwo will likely be used for Lucas and the other DLC characters as well. And the ironic part is that Lucas and Pit were both in Brawl.

Chorus Kids anyone? lol...
I proceeded to loudly yell "YES" to that idea.
On a serious note, I would love to see my boy Wolf back in the game, he was such a fun character back in brawl, also I really really hope the Ryu/Roy dlc rumours are true because (if I'm not mistaken) we still lack a martial artist. And what is a fighting game without some martial arts.

Or he could have just stopped with Sm4sh altogether with DLC and let people stay complaining while not giving a ****.

I personally think it was his own choice to volunteer adding even more chars via DLC, as he always had a choice to be done with Sm4sh especially when considering his health.
Plenty fans have been more worried about him than demanding chars back that weren't included, anyway.

As for the DLC characters, I say take their time with releasing them. Just don't draw it out too far.

As for Sakurai, deserves a break.

Pretty much this. I'm pretty certain that Sakurai and his team will probably analyse the data received from the poll and with that I think they can take as much time as they want to with their development.

Exactly, even though we all trust Sakurai's touch, he doesn't need to be the one making the DLC characters at all. Sakurai should take a break and let other Nintendo developers develop DLC characters. As long as the DLC characters are APPROVED by Sakurai I'm sure its going to be fine.

(I wouldn't be bothered by no DLC but I would really enjoy some DLC characters)

They still need to finish Tourney Mode. I think the intervening months should be spent getting that done.

It's best for him to just take a break form all the hard work he's been doing for the past 2 years and save himself the trouble of trying to make everyone happy with DLC content.

I'd to see some hints on what the next DLC is gonna be, also he needs more time to relax or chill and stuff, I just don't like the feelings of his issues on Health, and with his arm and whatnot. It's kinda disturbing.

I think the real issue is that he is trying to make everyone happy. But that isn't going to happen easily without getting a bigger development team than the one available to him currently since he wants the already big party game to be even bigger with more additions. Not to mention his health issues slow him down along with his need to make sure what he is adding in seems perfect. But it is fairly obvious he won't expand the dev team since once the poll is done and the character who won is added, it is likely that they will move on.

Personnally, I'd love to see Krystal, just because that would mean a starfox character with (potentially) something other than a blaster as a b neutral !
